::crazya::
that is quite a leap to label someone who simply
has a memory of the last 10 games
along with the whole season
and knows who's on the roster
and who bakes and cooks and has dogs

but if you need to say that to justify your optimism
it dovetails nicely with the delusion of seeing playoff push coming

hah I look at it one of two ways. The Blues make some miraculous push and that's fun. Or the Blues are forced to call up a few younger guys and see what they got. All fun for hockey fans. For curmudgeons? They always give up, and they always surrender.

Have to get all 4 according to Army tho to even get him to change his mind for where we currently are at.
Curmudgeons never win. There are talkers and complainers; and then there are doers. Doers win.

He's already said he hasn't watched the last twenty games.

He's not here for hockey.

Imagine approaching a sport of any kind and not grasping how the influx of drafted players affects that.

That would be so weird to think of sports that way, you'd be missing such a key piece. You'd sound dumb as hell too.

This is our 'last chance to sell reasonably high and get something back on Binnington' time. Short window. Waive some vets, bring in the kids. That Buchnevich contract (loaded w/ NTC for years and years) looks gnarly. Did they HAVE to sign him last summer ?? He seriously needs time in the AHL to get his game back. Or, you know, if anyone was interested...

Let's call it our first round placement push. Yeah, I'm in the tank camp now, 'cause we're in it already. The chops are not there, those odds aren't lying. Go for the gusto.

In a cap league, with the way the draft is structured, a team out of contention has to look at the risks/rewards. Besides, it isn't just tanking, its taking what is essentially a no-lo-cost opportunity to accelerate the development of prospects, dump vet contracts. I respect someone who thinks there is a moral obligation to win at all times, but don't actually agree. This league is more complicated than that, more-or-less maximally penalizes teams like the Blues who 'push' themselves into middling draft choices w/o the chops to contend further or reward of p/o games. If we had a shot for the play-offs, I'd of course feel the other way, but you know, take the opportunities open to us - this is the league we have, this is where we find ourselves. DA is probably already cooking up trades, looking at sending people down. He's given them one last shot to do what they haven't done all season - put 3 wins together. jmo ;)

Agreed and nobody is saying "let's gut the team to ensure more losses" which I think is what they hear. I'm not even clamoring for selling roster players to get back second and third rounders, or even a late 1st. I don't like the late 1st this year.

But a run of let's imagine 17-8-1 ... that gets them to just 90 points.
A team that hasn't won three games in a row all year.
And one that looked abysmal heading into the break.

I think both sides can be true here. The players and coaches do have an obligation to go and play for a win every night (plus, personal incentives). But management/ownership needs to be looking out for the long term health of the club. If that means trading/cutting/demoting vets in favor of younger players getting called up and playing regularly and leads to more losses and a better draft pick, then all good!

As bad as this sounds im trying to think of moves we can make to ensure our inconsistency problem stays that way without gutting the talent. I think if you deal faksa to highest bidder that is a pretty good start. He doesnt get many points but his faceoff ability is hard to overcome when next best is walker. Id like to keep schenn, but if teams are genuinely interested and looking to deal a 1st (doubt it) or a nice prospect then i see no way we could do anything but fall off.
