Rooney is usually all over the place, but it's entertainment, yeah? He had Kurtz and Condon and Wetherholt dropping to the Cubs last year at different times. At least everyone gets to see Cunningham's name with this mock. There's really no definitive 1-5 or 1-10 like there was last season. You can probably call LaViolette the number 1 by himself, and maybe Arnold and Holliday as 2, 2.1? And I'm not even sure about Holliday at this moment.

You can probably count up to 15-20 players that the Cards could draft at this point. Too many HS SS with high upside, too many good college hitters with bad chase rates (lack of discipline). Last year really spoiled us, some of the best zone disciplined hitters we've ever seen in the early part of the draft....this year, they're better athletes than last year....defense and speed. Interesting trade off

Cards need the Holliday kid. Probably not gonna happen . Would require the three arms talked about at the top to be generational to where three of the four teams ahead of us couldn't pass up and then the other team not taking Holliday.

If we land him and he is a homerun he's exactly what we need to restore the 'cardinal' way or make it cool to be here again.

He'd be the homegrown somewhat hometown hero (i know he's from Oklahoma but I guarantee he spent lots of time here with his father in the summer. That this franchise needs to get back to where it once was.

As it's shaping up right now, the Cardinals, at #5, are in line for Bremmer, Hernandez or Cannarella.

Does Burly have a brother or male cousin? That should be the focus, though it's doubtful those types would slip to 5.

Top 30 draft board. Pay attention to 4 of the last 5 on his list. Petry, Witherspoon, Caraway, and Schubart.

Kyson Witherspoon, RHP, Oklahoma's Friday night starter. He's my sleeper pitcher, and is in my Top college pitchers behind Bremner and Arnold. OU moves to the SEC this year, he'll face some stacked lineups ever single Friday.

Ethan Petry, 1B, South Carolina. Slugger, hit tool has gotten better, too. MVP of the Cape Cod League (Wooden Bat).

Trent Caraway, 3B, Oregon St. Hurt much of last season, got healthy enough to star in the Cape Cod League this summer. Really good summer.

Nolan Schubart, RF/LF, Ok State. If his hit tool can get near his massive power, he could vault up the board. Tall, Lefty Bat...6'5" frame.

--------

polished College pitcher, 3 Power Bats....ones to watch, they could move up nicely on the draft boards with an additional tool/results this spring.

I like Petry a lot, btw. I think he could get drafted around 15...might even sneak into the top 10.

Baseball America graded the depth of the draft

it's stronger on Hitters than it is Pitchers

good read/explanation

hell yeah, 82birds!!!!

College Baseball is back. 3 weekends of Shriner's Showdown

Starting tomorrow at Noon eastern... this weekend features a lot of Power Hitters. Summerhill (Ariz), Belyeu (Texas), Schubart (Ok. St.), And of course CF Cam Cannerella, won't have the power of the others, but he's more complete player.

Gabe Davis (Ok. St.) will likely pitch tomorrow vs. Clemson to kick off the weekend.

I'm excited!!!

Clemson/Ok. State game just took a dramatic turn.

Clemson's Aiden Knaak, looked to have locked down the #1 pick in 2026 (not this year, but next, he's a true Sophomore) with 7 K's in just 8 batters faced, but the Cowboys had an awesome 2 out rally kicked off by a Solo HR from the bottom of the order, then 3 batters later, top prospect Nolan Schubart pulled a double down the RF line, brought in 2 for the #3 hitter. Schubart is in RF today.

Cam Cannarella had an uncharacteristic start to his season, 2 AB's, 2 K's.....only a 13-14% K rate in his first 2 seasons.
.
Top prospect hurler for the Cowboys, Gabe Davis (6'9", RHP)....terrific fastball, sitting around 96-97 (typically), still too wild for my liking. 2 BB, 5 K's, 2 H, 1 Run thru 3 IP

Ok St. leads 3-1 in the 4th

Knaak's low 90's fastball has been getting too much of the plate all game. Cowboys have a pretty stout offense. Now 4-1, with 4 XBH (2 HR, 2 2B)...quite a turn of events after the 7K, 2 2/3 IP performance out of Knaak. It's batting practice now.

Cannarella gets his 1st HIT...by pitch. ::crazya::

Scores from 1B on hit and run double....he got a great jump, would've easily swiped the bag if not for the contact. 0-3, Run, 2 K, 1 HBP, 1 Lineout to 2B.

Nice but our 2d pick isn’t until #56. By then the Brewers will have 3 picks, the last being # 33.

I don't follow the entire draft nearly as thoroughly as you do...so this may be a dumb question (my favorite kind)...

But....

4 picks in the top 90 seems pretty darn good! Is this somewhat of a rarity? Could this be a stepping stone to rebuilding our farm? Thanks for the post and keep up the good work and valued information.

He does! Bubba Burleson, a 6'1" 290 pound slugger who at 19 years of age had a fabulous Junior season in high school last year. The 20 year old senior is a DH who some scouts compare to Gwynn or Votto and seems to be as "athletic" as Tommy Edman.

I have a friend who is a scout in the Japanese leagues and he says BB is a doubles machine who could be a "prime" Pujols.
