In my top 4 for Italian on the Hill, along with Charlie Gitto's, Lorenzo's and Favazza's. Love going on a Wednesday or Thursday evening and sitting at the bar. Great food and Tony is still doing amazing things in the kitchen!Pink Freud wrote: ↑16 Jan 2025 14:44 pmThe finest single meal I ever had in St. Louis was at Gian-Tony's. Veal Oscar that night, strongly suggested by my brother, who was paying. And I'm not even a veal fan. Fantastic meal from start to finish.BrummerStealsHome wrote: ↑16 Jan 2025 11:44 am First thing I thought of was Gian-Tony's. Alas, I've never been to Tony's.

The panel on Donnybrook on KETC Channel 9 said last night on the show that Tony's couldn't compete with an upscale cafeteria that was in the same building as Tony's and a restaurant with outstanding food that was near Tony's.

Capital Grill - https://www.thecapitalgrille.com/locati ... rl_rd:1056 still not a Tony's and no matter how upscale a cafeteria is, it is still a cafeteria. This says more about Americans not wanting to dress up anymore. JMHO.

I just checked Capital Grille's online menu --- thanks to C-S for posting. I'm having difficulty conjuring a cafeteria with those prices.Cajanek-Spielmacher wrote: ↑18 Jan 2025 13:54 pm Capital Grill - https://www.thecapitalgrille.com/locati ... rl_rd:1056 still not a Tony's and no matter how upscale a cafeteria is, it is still a cafeteria. Re: The end of an era; RIP Tony's
Sad to say, my personal economics have never allowed me to dine at Tony’s. Oh, I had the money, just not the will to spend it on a meal. The one time I went “money is no object” was dinner at the Top of the Riverfront at the old Stouffer’s downtown. Dinner for two, a bit over $100…

I agree. Comparing Tony's to a cafeteria is just dumb. I couldn't believe it when I heard Charlie Brennan say that.Pink Freud wrote: ↑19 Jan 2025 12:02 pmI just checked Capital Grille's online menu --- thanks to C-S for posting. I wonder if Tony's knew Flight Club was opening in Clayton at the end of this month?
