Remember when cord cutting was supposed to be cheaper than cable? My DirecTV bill - now $130 - same day as they pull this stunt. Billionaires fighting over pennies (figuratively) and we consumers get the shaft.

They won't, Rock. I had directv for years. Once was without Fox for multiple months. Bill was never lowered. Called and asked but they wouldn't budge. Found out a couple family members had called and said they were considering switching to another carrier. Directv offered a new rate for a year. To me, that is a strange way to run a business.rockondlouie wrote: ↑02 Sep 2024 08:50 am If it drops the monthly bill by $20 (rumored to be what Disney gets), then I hope Spectrum follows.
But if DirectTV isn't dropping their monthly rate, then this is a joke.

I have AT&T cable in Plano, TX. We have ABC, which I only watch for sporting events and some local news, and that is still on the air. Anything related to ESPN went off the air yesterday (9/1). I know AT&T owns Direct TV. This issue is not solely related to Direct TV.

These negotiations have a way of working themselves out. If not, a suitable alternative will surface. I use UZZU for sports streaming. $129/year.

Sorry I had it reversed. The Nexstar dispute which took our ABC affiliate down was for two months in the Summer of 23.ramfandan wrote: ↑02 Sep 2024 08:43 amYes, we lost the ABC affiliate in Knoxville for about a month in the past year ..that too was owned by NextstarStlcardsblues wrote: ↑02 Sep 2024 07:48 amHad Directv from 1997 until January of this year. We lost out ABC affiliate for about two months last year which ended in July. Then in September we lost out Fox affiliate for the same reason for about two months. Nextstar who owns a ton of local affiliates use the NFL to leverage a more favorable deal against Directv.MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑01 Sep 2024 23:04 pm Noticed that this afternoon. I suppose I will wait it out. There was a local channel that was out for a long time a year or so ago. Think it was the local Fox Channel out of KC. One day it was just back on like nothing had happened.
Tenga is the owner of our Fox affiliate and was the one who used the NFL as leverage to get a deal after being down for nearly 2 months in the fall.

I think that’s because the local ABC stations are owned by other media conglomerates, not Disney/ABC. They are just affiliates of ABC network programming.ForumPolice wrote: ↑02 Sep 2024 10:36 am Weird. I have DirecTV. ESPN is blacked out but I have ABC. Wonder why I have one but not the other

Dish, Direct, and Disney (ESPN, ABC).

If you go to the website, DIRECTV will give you a $20 bill credit. I know it’s not much but it’s something.
I went ahead and signed back up for ESPN + because I want to watch Mizzou tomorrow, and I’m hoping I’ll get to watch MNF.
