On this date in 1981, the Cardinals traded pitcher Bob Sykes to the Yankees for a minor-league outfielder named Willie McGee. McGee went on to win the 1985 NL MVP, two batting titles, and three Gold Glove awards in an 18-year MLB career:

I've been to 41 mlb parks and drove from here to the HOF twice.

Very few here know the history of the Cardinals well enough to discuss it on this forum.

The Cardinals FB groups as well.
