You’re taking about the direction a puck goes after a tip? The large majority of tips that go east/west also go up or down at the same time. But yes the deflections that go from low to high without changing its angle would be the easiest. It looks like a lot of tips that go straight down are hard to stop no matter what.

I see Binner in a reasonable position for the first shot. This left him helplessly too far to the right to stop the deflection.

I think the shot that hit Faulk was going wide- pretty hard to be in position for those.
