What was Miles’ pitch count? Less than 70?
67
Well,Svenson was terrific, but add two more innings to his arm! He won’t be available tomorrow. Mathenvy, I mean Marmol, just can’t help himself when it comes to using the bullpen!
Yep. Sometimes even a bad starter has a good night. MM was having one. He deserved the chance to at least start the next inning with that pitch count.
I don’t think MM has done anything this season to deserve to start the next inning he’s proven he’s not very good and you can’t count on him to be good deep into a game. With a 2 or more run lead there yea I think oli lets him go out there but with a 1 run lead if he goes out and gives up one of his patented meatballs that ties up the game then he goes to get him still brings in a reliever only now it’s a tie game. Oli doesn’t trust MM and I don’t blame him I don’t either I think it was a good move

I disagree, he took his starter out who had only thrown 67 pitches, and once again went to a bullpen that he has been over used already! Sure it worked tonight, but about tomorrow, or later in the week when we might need Svenson again, or next year? How many pitchers need Matheny ruin? Oli is trying to do the same thing!

...And...that's a WINNAH..! Good game for the Cards...Excellent game pitched by Mikolas, and nice managing by Oli... He made a lot of the "right" moves in this game, and they worked out for him. Low-hitting and low-scoring games are usually more exciting than blowouts, as every batter has a chance to change the outcome of the game. Bullpen was sparkling again tonight, getting the outs they needed. I don't think I've ever seen Romero with a 1-2-3 inning to close out a game... The relievers are settling into their assigned spots in the game with a Cardinal lead, and usually performing in good fashion.
Cards need a win tomorrow to take the series... and gained a game on Cincy, as they lost to Toronto 12-9.

Well, there could be a legit reason to lift him after 67 pitches.
Let’s wait til postgame comments from Oli and MM.
Oli interview is up next in TV

All in all a good game. Mikolas only allowed 1 run, Svanson pitched well, and JoJo closed it out.
Gorman made some excellent plays at 3rd, and Herrera with the deciding HR.

If your starter can't throw 70 pitches? Cmon. Minus the home run, he pitched well. Send him out for at least the next inning but have a BP guy warming. If you limit starters to 67 pitches you will have no BP to finish the season. MM stinks but you let him pitch when he is on... Save some of that BP.
