I get upset too when I see that, but the stuff on these pitches, with the velocity and spin, I'm not surprised that hitting .300 is almost a thing of the past. I heard the other day, don't know that anyone really knows for sure, but they estimate a fastball in the Babe Ruth era was 80 mph. Think what most of these guys today would do to an 80 mph fastball.

He appears to have decent stuff but it also appears that he has no clue where the ball is going??

Yep. He DOES have to use all of his pitchers... and Alcala has had a decent career, just not a good 2025.

I will stick to muttering about Oli not reviewing the basic rules of baseball with all of his players and coaches every spring training.

Nothing wrong with his bullpen usage today.
