Yet Melville thinks Pages is GG material. And a pitcher whisperer to boot. How's that catcher ERA today?

There are a bunch of dumb posts on here. Saying this roster is awful and all the players should be DFA. Yes the roster isn't great but currently there are 12 major league teams with records worse than the Cards and one the same plus today 75% of the starting infield is out. Also if this team is so bad how did they go 4-2 vs both the Phillies and Dodgers?

Yes 3/4 of infield starters out and 1/3 of OF out (Scott).stlbirdlover wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 17:43 pm There are a bunch of dumb posts on here. Gorman was lucky. It was a poor base running play. It could have ended the game.

mercifully, this one has ended

Even the Rockies went 2-2 with the Dodgers last week. And the Phillies have been hot and cold.stlbirdlover wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 17:43 pm There are a bunch of dumb posts on here. Also, explain how the Cardinals went 4-8 during this 12-game stretch against the Rockies, Yanks, Marlins and Rays.
And earlier this year, they went 5-13 in a stretch vs. the Pirates, Cubs, Nats, Braves, D-Backs and Rockies. Yeah, this team is bad.

I wasn't able to see the game. Did Libby simply lose command or did his velo also disappear in the 5th?

Kept his velocity pretty well, but lost the strike zone and Svanson came in and Junior hit the slam off him.Imperial Capitalist wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 18:16 pm I wasn't able to see the game. Did Libby simply lose command or did his velo also disappear in the 5th?

Admittedly today was brutal! After the grand slam I did a lot of channel flipping!
Anyway....here’s my feeble attempt at some positive thinking.
2026:
Insert Winn and J.J. for Saggese & Fermin.
Crooks for Pages?(with Pozo as backup?)
Donovan back in the lineup.
And....I know he’s been disappointing.... but a healthy Arenado could be due for a bounce back?
Assuming he’s not traded?
That’s just the lineup. We all know the rotation needs work!
Ok... have at me! LOL
Re: GDT: Cards at Rays 8-24 11:30??
Libby wasnt missing by that much. I would have liked to have seen him left in to try and pitch out of his own mess. That’s how pitchers learn and maybe gain some confidence. In a season where we are suppose to see what the young guys can do, why not leave him in there? Oli, still trying to save his job by getting that last wild card! He’s gone against everything this season was suppose to be about! If his name was Shildt, he’d have already been fired!MIDMOBIRDTWO wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 18:25 pmKept his velocity pretty well, but lost the strike zone and Svanson came in and Junior hit the slam off him.Imperial Capitalist wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 18:16 pm I wasn't able to see the game. Teams with a AAAA roster don't play the first half of the season 9 games over .500. This is yet another year of the great Oli and Blake somehow managing to extract only half a season of decent baseball from their players. When every single player (except Pujols in 22) gets consistently worse as each season carries on, at some point, you have to look at the guys in charge.stlbirdlover wrote: ↑24 Aug 2025 17:43 pm There are a bunch of dumb posts on here.
