there's chance he could start....but it's super tough for RHP under 6'2" to start in today's MLB.....Gray did it, kudos to him, but he's the exception, not the rule....in Today's Game.Swuhgen wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 17:03 pmHe won’t be a starter. He’s a very good prospect
Maybe as a closer?
He is 20 and hit .260+ the year before.craviduce wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 16:57 pmNYCardsFan wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 16:55 pm Per Adam Jude:The Mariners are sending Ben Williamson to Tampa Bay and two prospects to St. Louis in the Brendan Donovan trade: switch-pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje, the Mariners' 2024 first-round pick, and Tai Peete, a 2023 first-round pick, sources tell @RyanDivish and me.
we get Peete or the Rays get Peete?

Well yeah, but you weren’t getting an MLb ready one of those for Brendan Donovan lolCarp4Cy wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 17:00 pmHe's no where near MLB ready, and we need MOTO RH bats.bfib wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 16:53 pmWhy? That's the trouble. We were supposed to hold onto our best trade chip (or bundle him with Jojo or surpluss catchers etc) to get as close to a sure thing as posslble. This is the opposite of that.craviduce wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 17:04 pmthere's chance he could start....but it's super tough for RHP under 6'2" to start in today's MLB.....Gray did it, kudos to him, but he's the exception, not the rule....in Today's Game.Swuhgen wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 17:03 pmHe won’t be a starter. I hope Cijntje makes it as a starter, I really do....I'll root for him.
Risky move.
We're lucky to have so many minor league prospect honks like yourself on the board.scoutyjones2 wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 17:07 pm the Mariners sending switch-pitching prospect Jurrangelo Cijntje and outfield prospect Tai Peete to St. Louis, and sending third baseman Ben Williamson to Tampa Bay.
If it's Tai Peete...he's a nothing player
Which is why we were supposed to bundle him to get a needed target, not a gimmick P and another LH prospect.bfib wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 17:06 pmWell yeah, but you weren’t getting an MLb ready one of those for Brendan Donovan lolCarp4Cy wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 17:00 pmHe's no where near MLB ready, and we need MOTO RH bats.bfib wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 16:53 pmWhy? 162 K's last year...batted .217. He's young....but when there's a 4:1 disparity in K/BB....yikes. Maybe he'll get betterStlcardsblues wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 17:06 pmHe is 20 and hit .260+ the year before.craviduce wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 16:57 pmNYCardsFan wrote: ↑02 Feb 2026 16:55 pm Per Adam Jude:The Mariners are sending Ben Williamson to Tampa Bay and two prospects to St. Louis in the Brendan Donovan trade: switch-pitcher Jurrangelo Cijntje, the Mariners' 2024 first-round pick, and Tai Peete, a 2023 first-round pick, sources tell @RyanDivish and me.
