"Q" getting close to a late August call up?
(DFA Mikolas)
He had 9 walks over 7.2 IP in his previous 2 starts before his last start, so I’d say no.
The last time he went back to back non-rehab starts with 2 or less walks was August 17 and 23rd of last year in AA.
Doesn't bother me, minor league umps are notoriously bad.
Last night:

Last 7 GS:
34 2/3 IP
2.34 ERA
44 KO's
20 BB's
.198 .322 .254 .576 slash against
I definitely would call him up and have him take Mikolas' starts no later than 9/1.
His last 2 starts have definitely been better. In the “other” 5 starts of that 7 starts group opponents had a .375 OBP against him because of the 18 walks in 21 IP. I wouldn’t put it on the umps. He clearly wasn’t right, but he’s getting better. His velo is still down below where he was last year.
I want:
JJW
"Q"
Crooks
Up here as soon as we pass Aug. 15th (I think that's the date)!
DFA the garbage, put them on the 40 man and give we Cardinals fans a true look at the future.

To those that are watching, how has Joshua Baez been? The numbers look alright but perhaps he was carried by an outstanding May?
I didn't realize he was such a threat to steal. 43 stolen bases? I would like to see the home runs higher, but the OPS has been pretty good.
Your guys thoughts? Will this guy eventually be something at the Major League level ? I mean still only 22.

117 wRC+ since July, so slipped a bit since the hot start, but still, I'll take that from a 22 year old at AA. Also, I guess I didn't realize he had stolen 43 bases. That's good to know.
As much as I'd love to know what we have in him, I have no idea. Maybe at least a 4th OFer who can play some occasional CF if needed? Hopefully more than that, but I'm not really that up to date on the prospects as some others.

I'm not up to date with all the prospects either, but some of Joshua's HR's are of the 450' variety, so he's got plus power potential.

Yep, he’s got the tools.
Since July 1st, he has hit .236 (not good), .360 OBP (good), and .416 SLG % (meh). He’s shown patience (15 walks in 112 PA), speed (15 SBs in 17 attempts), and when he hits the ball he hits it hard.
We’ll see how far he can get.

I try to watch most of his ABs via MiLB archive if not live. He is my "great hope" as he has all the tools, but you're right, his stats have been helped by the early AA May-June hot streak, which was exciting. He had an okay July (.741 OPS) but his August has been very good again (.938 OPS)*. He really puts a charge into the ball when he does hit, and his peripherals are much better this year. And he's very fast for a large man. His defense looks very good and I think he can play CF a lot, if not 100% (and we need a RHH CF). His splits are good: he hits better vs LHP but is still good vs RHP.
Positives with peripherals:
2024 - He struck out 114 out of 321 PAs =
35.5%. He walked
9.9%.
.743 OPS - A and A+; 29/34 SBs
2025 - He struck out 88 out of 383 PAs =
27%. He has walked
13%.
.867 OPS - A+ and AA. 43/49 SBs
* His August has also been better with an 18% K-rate and 27% BB-rate. I really like his ABs.

Pages is a total waste of four AB's, Crooks could be the #1 next season w/Pozo backing him up until Bernal is ready.
Agree on the OF being thinned out, Noot appears to be the best bet to go.

You have to think the three "runway" young un's (Hererra-VSII-Walker) will/should get the bulk of the OF playing time.
Two players on 9/1 bringing the MLB roster to 28.

Up here as soon as we pass Aug. 15th (I think that's the date)!
DFA the garbage, put them on the 40 man and give we Cardinals fans a true look at the future.
I also want to see those three, but, maybe only JJ and Quinn this season, and, Crooks by opening day 2026. I also like Church(this years performance, that is), but, not sure where to put him. I think we'd have to see a few outfield trades in the offseason for Church to make the roster.
Crooks needs to come up too DD11
Pages is a total waste of four AB's, Crooks could be the #1 next season w/Pozo backing him up until Bernal is ready.
Agree on the OF being thinned out, Noot appears to be the best bet to go.
Crooks should be brought up this season, but, I guess it just seems like it would be harsh to move on from Pages at this point in the season, after the stability he provided this year. But, you're right, he should be brought up.
And they probably won't move on from Pages (until after the season), but sure would like to see Crooks up here.
