eddie stinky wrote: 30 Jun 2025 15:45 pm I retired in 2017, moved to Florida, started a couple of side hustles marketing on the internet and a couple youtube channels. Between that and fishing I keep pretty busy. I try to check in every day or so, but don't post much. 67 y/o and still after that 10 lb bass.
The channels bass fishing related? Eight years in FL and no 10 pounder? My biggest in MO is 8.8. I don't largemouth fish much anymore. When I fish now, it's either floating a river for Small mouth, or catching panfish under a bobber.
No, they have nothing to do with fishing.

I spend a lot of time after Snook and Reds in the gulf now. They're a lot of fun. I really do miss the Meramec and smallmouths. But enjoy fishing down here year round.
I retired 3 years ago and float-fish the Meramec for smallmouth out of Garrisons maybe 10-12 times/year. We go during the week and especially after Labor Day.
Since September 2023 I’ve got 2 18” and my buddy has 2 plus a 19” that was a little over 3 1/2 lbs.
Just went yesterday, got about 15 between us but nothing over 13”. Great way to spend a day!
Exactly what my boy and I do, although not as often, and in the heat. Guide on the Piney years ago told me the hotter it gets the better they bite, and it's held true for me. My son pulled a 4.1 out of that stretch last year.

I usually do really well on top, even in the middle of a 100 degree day.
We usually use 4” soft plastic lizards or worms rigged Texas style with 1/8 oz bullet weight, let it bounce in the current.
What top water baits do you use?

Just turned 63 and in the process of starting a new company. No retirement for me any time soon, and I am happy with that.

Another thought. I’m on CT when the board is loaded with its premier actors, yourself included. It’s much funner to socialize with a larger population. In addition, like ur self, the chatter is awesome.
agree with you on this. It's no fun to post something and someone respond 2 days later when i've already forgotten what i wanted to discuss.

Im 41 years old and i remember the thread about posters age. I believe i was youngest or second youngest
No offense but you are young. So much of life ahead. Do you realize the average poster you talk to is about 30 years your senior. That’s wild.

And yes, you may be the pup of the forum- ha.
Yeah, I am the youngest member, 25 and not retired, actually looking for my first job in my career field, been a member for 10 years, casually check weekly maybe 3 times maybe more if there is a good convo topic, I remember the thread about posters age and I remember a few in their 40s I don’t think anyone in 30s and just me in their 20s, with the majority being 55+

I’ve been retired for 5 years, during baseball season I check an average of once a day. Sometimes a little more, sometimes not at all. About the same during the “hot stove” season. Blues talk daily during the season, not so much in the middle of summer. But both are enjoyable!

When I retired, I started studying chemistry and have perfected a way to turn Scotch and Vodka into urine.

Me. Love to play golf but two back surgeries to repair discs at L4-L5 on each side have limited me to once a week.
So I spend way to much time on this forum!

Can't imagine being retired. But for some it must be utopia. Especially after working for various good and bad bosses, dealing with company politics, being "rated" and "reviewed" all the time, having to report at a certain time (and not go home until a certain time), etc.

do you check once a day? just curious

I'm not retired, but i have 4 computer screens for work, and i usually leave CT on in the background screen and check maybe hourly
Age 72 retired from USDA in 2011. I'm here off and on during the day. Depends on whats going on at home or if I have to pick-up stuff at an auction. Probably on here more then I should be.

I’m 80 years old and have been retired for 20 years. I am loving every minute of it, by playing golf and snooker. I was a teacher while coaching high school baseball and basketball, and spent 19 years as a principal. I also spent seven years as an Adjunct Professor teaching foundation courses to teachers beginning work toward their masters degree. I usually check Card Talk a couple of times each day.

Age 71. Been a diehard Card fan since 1963. Hazelwood High grad. Got my [nonsense] & MS in engineering from what’s now called Missouri U of Science & Technology in Rolla. Left STL in early 1980’s and wound up in the chemical and refining industry which eventually took me to Houston, then San Antonio where I now live. Retired from full-time work at age 64, so I could travel more and see my aging brothers in St. Louis and my adult sons who live elsewhere. Can’t do that when you’re working 50 hours per week. I still work part time because I enjoy the work and the camaraderie of colleagues I’ve worked with for years. I do a fair amount of training courses in my field and enjoy teaching younger engineers. I visit Cards Talk almost daily, partly to keep up with the team (CT gives me a perspective the fawning STL media won’t), and admittedly, to complain about Cards management. And, yeah, some of the CT denizens and banter are entertaining.
