Am I blind or do they not have Jamie Arnold in the first round? That's a pretty big oversight I would think.
That’s hilarious!
very unlike Bleacher Report

I think it's just an honest mistake. Future Star Series, I think, left off one of the LHP pitchers a few weeks ago. Or was it Arquete?

Crav do you think the firing of Rizzo will impact the Nats pick in any way? I know the GM isn’t necessarily running the draft, but it’s interesting timing right before they have the #1 overall pick.

Andrew Dutkanych IV....2024 draft pick, Vanderbilt. Drafted injured. Removed from Palm Beach IL, and assigned to the FCL. No move to the FCL IL, so might be making his Pro Debut this week.
Oh yea, this is the guy with some pretty elite upside, but was drafted hurt. Do we know if he still has lingering injury concerns or did he just get hurt at the worst time? Seems like we have more than a few starting pitching prospects with high upside, but some big injury concerns.

My 3 round cardinal mock draft.
5. JoJo Parker- cardinals fall in love with the Mississippi high school shortstop. Has enough pop to move to third if needed.
55. JB Middleton- ace potential with 3 plus pitches. Falls to 55 because of size.
72. Jacob Parker- Bash brothers are coming to stl. We finally get a decent rf prospect. Has great exit velos and enough arm to man right field.
89. Aj Russell- Tommy John surgery kept him from being a 1st rounder. Has an 80 grade fastball. Worst case he becomes our closer.
Cards also draft Mizzou qb horn in the 7th round. Book it.
AJ Russell is too good to drop that far. Injury/Recovery/More Surgery concerns surround him, but his Fastball has been legendary for over 3 years. Someone takes the plunge/gamble on him in the 40-50 range. No reason not to, imo.
Middleton goes in the same range 40-50, maybe 30's...that will depend on the run on HS SS, which there are plenty....if there's a serious run on HS SS, then players like Middleton could drop to 55, but that's his floor.
The Parker Bros have been a dream of mine. Jacob has the power....and it would great to have a proper OF prospect that isn't so wound tight and gets hurt every 2 weeks. You don't need to be body builder to be hit for power....if we draft Irish, I don't see Jacob being drafted.
JoJo would save the Cards money
I know there's love for Jo Jo here. Do prefer him over Willits?
Jo Jo aside, would love Jacob in the 2nd round. They both are getting so much press for being twins. Jacob could go in the comp round.

Good to hear the Duke may be coming off the IL. Obviously need top end starters moving through the system.

I've heard people say that they prefer JoJo due to his ability to be more of an impact bat, even if he may not stick at SS like Willits. From what I understand Willits is very well rounded in basically every aspect of the game, with a good hit and run tool, but doesn't project for much power.
I'm not smart enough to say either way, but I would like to see a guy drafted who can be an impact bat or top of the rotation starter. To some, I don't think Willits fits that bill. I've even heard the dreaded Pete Kozma comparisons.
I know that this is apparently a draft that is low on high end talent, but there's guys out there, whether they're taken 5th or 105th. I just really hope we come out with an impact player. Look how exciting it is watching JJ Wetherholt this year. They can't screw this up.

he's coming off TJ surgery recovery. Had the procedure at the end of March...15 months ago...almost 16.

I wouldn’t mind if it’s willets. I like him a lot. I personally think we already had a “willets” and we traded him for Fedde last season. I kinda want someone with power upside. That’s why I would lean towards JoJo. I think I read somewhere that he hit 15 homers this high school year. That’s pretty crazy. When you add in his makeup, it’s really hard to pass up. I know teams shouldn’t draft for need, and take best player available. But we have needed corner outfield w/pop for around 50yrs lol.

Law has a new mock this morning and has the Cards taking Willits. He says Holliday, Anderson, Doyle and Arquette are likely the top 4 so Cards could shop the rest of the draft for the best deal at 5.

Yea, 100% understand what you're saying. I think I agree with you, but I really don't know enough about either player to make an educated statement one way or another. Same reason I can't really be mad if they take Willits, or another player for that matter.

If it plays out that way, I really hope they go with Arnold. He seems like a quick moving pitcher that could be at the top of the rotation soon.
Otherwise, I really like an underslot deal with Kyson Witherspoon. I feel like he lost some helium with his last start of the year being a down one, but he has two years of results, the necessary fastball/slider combo, high velocity, and is seemingly a great kid. Young too, still just 20. Never see him mentioned much with the Cardinals. But this is such an odd draft year that I'll be able to buy into whatever direction we go, just hope we see some higher upside plays with all the early picks this year. Last year's draft was just so boring with the guys they took after JJ.
