How is the potential top five in the lineup shaping up?
Wetherholt, Burleson and Herrera are going to be in there. Who are the other two? Will either Walker or Gorman be consistent enough to hit at 5? It wouldn't surprise me, by the end of spring training, that Saggese fits in the top five somewhere. Let's face it, this isn't the Big Red Machine.

It would be really nice if Scott could be in leadoff but doubtful.Shady wrote: ↑27 Feb 2026 17:46 pm Wetherholt, Burleson and Herrera are going to be in there. Who are the other two? Re: How is the potential top five in the lineup shaping up?
It's early yet . I could see Wetherholt, Winn, Burly , Gorman to start things off .
Over the course of the season, the leadoff hitter (to no surprise ) gets more plate appearanced than any position in the batting order and then plate appearance numbers decline for each spot.
So you want the players who will have the highest batting averages near the very top. Unfortunaely , Scott has not displayed the hitting prowess in his past to warrant getting the most plate appearance .
Personally , I would like to see Scott remain at 9th for as the lineup proceeds during a game, when Scott comes up and he does get a walk /single ,he can then use his speed to steal 2nd and have the top of the lineup guys 1st, 2nd , and 3rd with a shot to drive him in.

Re: How is the potential top five in the lineup shaping up?
Lots of options.
Id like to see Herrera 3 and Burleson 4.
Still a lot to figure out with the 1 and 2 spots.
Oli will want Winn in there.
JJ fits well at 1 for 2.
Torres is your prototypical LO hitter, but will he get a shot?
I think this might be best:
Torres 7
Wetherholt 4
Herrera 2
Burleson 3
Saggese DH
Winn 6
Gorman 5
Walker 9
Scott II 8
And then Church could be a 1-2 type too.
So, lots to figure out still!

Ever heard of Winn?Shady wrote: ↑27 Feb 2026 17:46 pm Wetherholt, Burleson and Herrera are going to be in there. Who are the other two? Will either Walker or Gorman be consistent enough to hit at 5? He will be leading off.
Re: How is the potential top five in the lineup shaping up?
Ideally, 2 of 3 of Scott, Winn, and Torres.

Noot
JJW
Hererra
Burly
Gorman

Hererra
Burly
Gorman
Re: How is the potential top five in the lineup shaping up?
I wouldn’t count on Noot for much of anything - because of
both injuries and over rated productivity.

Re: How is the potential top five in the lineup shaping up?
Not only can we count on it he is the best OFer on this team and could likely be even better after finally having his heels treated.
I'd hardly say a 2022-2024 slash line of .351 OB%/.426 sg%/.777 OPS is "overrated".
Best OF'er on the team for years and it's not even close.

yup - Noot is definitely our best outfielder by a rather large marginrockondlouie wrote: ↑28 Feb 2026 10:16 amNot only can we count on it he is the best OFer on this team and could likely be even better after finally having his heels treated.
