Congratulations Tigers

Post by California Cardinal Fan »

You just tossed it all away, everything you had gained, with with an indescribably bad display of basketball. You made a lot of progress, earned some well deserved respect, then failed to show up for the biggest game of your season.

I don't think that's accurate at all. Sometimes the other team deserves credit. They just out executed the Tigers. Phillips getting the fouls early hurt. The game bogged down and Texas made plays. Mizzou missed some shots around the rim, and the FT shooting was a factor too.

This is a bubble team, and they are in the midst of the tough part of their schedule and they might not get in. They're not that talented.

The magic number is having three double digit scorers you can count on every night plus a spark off the bench if you're going to be a good team.

Missouri doesn't have that this season and without that consistency stringing together wins is hard to do.

When you toss in the fact only three players can consistently make free throws it means no NCAA tournament.

MU has athletes but not necessarily basketball players.

No. It's not inaccurate. It's just blunt.

You're so predictable after every loss. You were saying their season was over after their record stood at 4-4, and then they win 3 straight, and you're back on the bandwagon until tonight. They can still make a statement at home by taking 2 of 3 from Vandy, Tennessee and Arky. Will they? We shall see. Too many players are mercurial. And every team has them. Just like you as a fan.

I think predictability is the way you feel a need to attack me personally whenever you are unhappy with what I say.

Considering the opponent last night (not very good at all and full of uncertainty) and being on our HOME FLOOR, that was one of the top 3 worst games we have played all year. Pierce, Barrett, Crews and the 7’2” Knucklehead (who thinks he’s playing hockey and is the enforcer) made FOUR FIELD GOALS BETWEEN THEM IN OVER 90 MAN MINUTES OF PLAY. The Tigers only turned the ball over 9 times, yet lost on their home floor, with a sellout crowd cheering them on, by 17 points!!! CCF is spot on. What a pitiful effort, especially after winning two road games and their upcoming schedule. They disappointed the 15,000 faithful who paid to see them. Last night was a bad, bad loss for the “last in” team in the NCAA Tournament. The committee will remember this one. Texas is not a good team.

Admittedly, I have underestimated this team, they have won more than I anticipated, but it's game like like night that have shaped my opinion. I agree, they had all the ingredients to make a statement and fell flat. Too many lopsided losses and close victories do not instill confidence going forward. If T.O. has a good game and we get unexpected contributions from Pierce, Crews, Phillips, or Robibson, we can win, but we never know if that will happen. Each game seems to be a toss up and you wonder what team will show up on a given night. I will be pleasantly surprised if we make the tourney, too much inconsistency from everyone except Mitchell.

The reason they lost is because I bet on them to win. It’s that simple. It’s automatic every time.

Barrett had 30+ minutes and 5 points on nine shots and ZERO rebounds. Robinson had 11 points in 21 minutes and 2-3 on 3s, with ONE rebound. Crews with ONE rebound. We got out-rebounded by 10. I see why Gates like Barrett but you cannot play 31 minutes and get zero rebounds if your team needs them. I think there's a little too much negativity on Robinson and a little inflation of Barrett, and wouldn't mind a starting lineup change back to normal.

Well said! You summed it up perfectly. Each game, you don't know who will show up!

With both teams coming into the game on three game winning streaks, I took the over.

But had sweat out the W.

Phillips made perhaps the biggest bone headed foul(s) in the first few mins, and pretty much trashed DG game plan of playing a short bench. I mean the lack of awareness is incredible. Icing on cake was Pierce doing the disappearing trick.
PS: Betting MU when it's a big game with meaningful implications, at home, first sellout of season, prime time TV - Count on MU crapping the bed. Winning some $$$ makes up for the frustration.

Yeah, it was a bad game - kinda hard to watch. Those things happen. The guys are going to have good games and bad games. This team is middle of the pack. Every game has been and will be difficult. I am surprised we are 7-5 - actually quite thankful we have won 7 at this point, and still in the running. If we can just eek out 3 more conference wins, to get to 10-8, we will likely make the NCAA tournament. That would be a success. Fingers crossed!!

If we make the tourney and lose in the first-round would everyone consider the season a success? What about if we miss the tourney, would that make the season a success because there really isn't much difference between the two.

I always think making the tournament is the most basic of goals. Much better to make the tournament and lose the first game than to not even be in the field.
