Was rumored to be getting 6 mil. Nice signing by the Pads. He was the last outfield hitter that I was intersted in. Not wanting to mess with Grich at all.
$4MM was too much for DeWitt I suppose. Don't want to block Church, Fermin, and Saggese playing in LF? Sounds like a Mo move. Maybe they have faith in Nootbaar to play in April..........

Andujar signing with San Diego 1 year $4 million.
Yes, I commented on this on the other post. Pretty telling when the Cardinals wouldn’t even go 4 mil on a guy. They are going with what they have and they should at this point.

Let's see: Padres? Cardinals? One team is a playoff contender and one is in major rebuild mode. Sunny So. Cal or the Midwest? Where would you go?

Then why did they sign Dustin May to a 12 MM contract instead of going with some young Memphis pitchers?

May is 28 with a high up side. Andujar is 30 and worse than a cheaper younger Donovan that we just traded.
I’ll be glad when Cardinal fans expect more that mediocrity from players. Andugar wouldn’t be a difference maker.

He murders LH pitching. Can you say the same for any of Church, Fermin, Saggese, Nootbaar, etc.? Yes he would have made a difference. The trade of Donovan has absolutely nothing to do with the failure to sign Andujar.

May is an interesting get. At only 28, he could be quite valuable if the Cards competitive window is 2 years out. Or, if healty, a valuable trade piece at the deadline.

2 reasons. 1.) May is still young. 2.) He is looking to build value and we can guarantee him starts.
He can be a flippable piece if we need or we can keep him and male him a part of what we are building.
