Re: Broberg Extension
I like that he only has a NTC for two years. As far as value can’t argue with that number. I would say Broberg has a high likelihood to be worth more than 8 million a year within 1-2 years.
Re: Broberg Extension
He’s pacing for 25 points and has yet to score a PP goal in his life.DawgDad wrote: ↑10 Jan 2026 18:09 pmHe could be worth twice as much by years 5-6.smilinjoefission wrote: ↑10 Jan 2026 18:06 pmIf that's the structure then this as good a deal you can get...Blues could trade him off Year 5 or 6 for an absolute mint if he becomes the player he's projected to beLewisL wrote: ↑10 Jan 2026 17:37 pm The staff over at PuckPedia revealed Broberg’s contract breakdown relatively soon after:

Seems like a good deal for both sides. Glad he’ll be here for potentially the next 6 years.

Re: Broberg Extension
I watch all the games. My assessment is consistent with the extension contract and the pundit assessments I've seen. He's tall/long stick, athletic, plus skating and puckhandling, plus hockey sense. He's not being asked to be a PP QB but he could be. Could have more goals and assists but the team around him can't finish and many can't skate fast enough to join the play on his rushes. He's getting nastier the more he plays. Solid top-4 or top-2, with his athleticism he should still have more upside.theograce wrote: ↑10 Jan 2026 18:30 pmAt what? Make a point ol’ guy. Re: Broberg Extension
Nastier? One example from the season please. I mean come on…it’s not who he is. Yeah of course he’s going to be top 4. He is now. He has a poor/weak shot and his execution offensively is average at best. He’s pushing 25. I don’t see real leadership in him either.DawgDad wrote: ↑10 Jan 2026 18:59 pmI watch all the games. This is a Steen victory - there's no doubt his connection to Sweden put this guy on his radar.

I'll go with I'm on "ok" with it.
Hopefully there is more there but if this is all he is it becomes underwhelming quickly.
A lot of good tools to work. We'll see how good he can use them.

Re: Broberg Extension
Given what guys like Makar and Hughes are looking at these days, that's a totally reasonable contract. Good move IMO. I don't know if it'll ever be some kind of steal, but at worst he's a solid all-situations Top 4.
Re: Broberg Extension
I don’t see this being a disaster. At worst, it’s a bit overpriced. He’s not a number 1 but this isn’t a no 1 contract. I think it’s a safe gamble.
He’s overrated around here but he’s solid.
Re: Broberg Extension
It won’t be a disaster at all. Its principle. He hasn’t earned it for me. Plus he hasn’t looked that good to me this year…especially with the puck.
Re: Broberg Extension
He leads the team in TOI. Right now, he's a 1st pairing defenseman. Is he the #1? Yet to be determined.
No doubt he would've gotten $9M in the offseason. Good signing.
