Who Would You Draft First 2026
If the Blues had the first draft pick who would you draft first McKenna or Stenberg? I would take Stenberg

I am just going to throw this out here because it needs to be said. You must be in that position to have the opportunity to make those kind of decisions. I say this because as it stands, we very well may not be. If this Management team doesn't act we may be in the situation where we miss getting a top pick, miss the playoffs, pick later in the first round, and will have to suffer through this team lurching one way and then the other. Its past time this management team takes action if its going to. I want to see them sell high on Faulk, I want to see them if Binnington returns again rejuvenating his career by sending him out not for hockey trades, but for actual top picks and prospects. I want to see some accountability for Buchnevich, he belongs in the minors or better yet pay him to lace them up for the Everblades the Blues ECHL affiliate. End this clown show where a goaltender hides when the coach calls for a tending change and support your coach in Monty. Enough of this as we have young players that are being exposed to this right this minute. The entire culture needs to change, people need to shipped off for DRAFT PICKS and PROSPECTS, not players of the age of Thomas.southernblues wrote: ↑09 Jan 2026 10:46 am If the Blues had the first draft pick who would you draft first McKenna or Stenberg? Vancouver, Calgary, Columbus, potentially Ottawa if the rumors are true. I wonder where the Blues fit in?
Seeing as the Jets are on an 11-Game Losing Streak, I question if they’re a contender in the opposite direction, too?

Best case scenario would be we finish first and Vancouver, Calgary or Winnipeg is 2nd. Then you can trade down one spot select Stenberg #2 overall and get a prospect and another pick maybe

Blues currently hold the #4 draft spot, 9.5% chance at #1 or #2. At worst this team will draft in the mid teens and still come away with another very good prospect no worries a lot still to happenMandatoryDenial wrote: ↑09 Jan 2026 12:05 pmI am just going to throw this out here because it needs to be said. I might just take Belchetz over everybody.

Yep. But if I had the #1 I’d do as you mentioned and try to trade back a couple spots, get a haul, and take Belchetz.

Blues probably won't get #1 overall, but if they do its McKenna...if they pick in the #2 spot I'm picking Stenberg, but Verhoeff would be hard to ignore.
Re: Who Would You Draft First 2026
This will be the year that they get the #1 and there won't be a C worth taking at that spot.

Yup. It’s why Pierre is on to something in my opinion. If we win the lottery and get #1 (or even 2), take a serious look at trading back. If you get an extra first or a (bleep) good young player and the 4th or 5th pick, I think you do it. Say you get #4 and #25, or 5 and really good young player, then you take your chances on Belchetz or a player like Tynan Lawrence being there at 4 or 5.
Re: Who Would You Draft First 2026
Not picking 1st imo. We get the third pick--ID say Keaton Verhoeff; if hes taken Chase Reid
McKenna and Stenberg if picking 1 or 2
If picking later: Mathis maybe Lawrence

For me, the Blues need an elite Center or RHD, and that is not McKenna or Stenberg. If we have a top pick, and one of them is available, I would look to swap picks with somebody, and then snag the best RHD or Center at #3/#4/#5.
I would take whoever is the best player at RHD or C.
