But what’s interesting is he was originally committed to Florida, switched to Ole Miss. got stuck behind Dart, and then this season was the starter at the beginning and got hurt early. Chambliss came in and obviously has played with his hair on fire ever since. So Simmons has been the victim of some bad luck.

Everything I read says they love him in Oxford. Throws a beautiful spiral, great kid, leader, etc. no idea what we’re paying him if this is true, but this makes a lot of sense. If Zollers is the QB1, he’ll have to really show it. Because Simmons is probably super hungry.

Not a bad thing if the report is true. However Simmons is just like Zollers, neither has played much in the past two years. I would like to see a more proven QB brought in,even for a year, let these two learn next year then one step up as the starter the follow year. You would figure the one not likely to be the starter the next year would transfer out.
Seeing a few names for Missouri including Kennesaw State quarterback Amari Odom. During the 2025 season, this quarterback threw for nearly 2,600 yards and accounted for 26 total touchdowns Also the Harvard quarterback Jaden Craig, Former Harvard coach Tim Murphy has said Craig is the best quarterback he's seen at Harvard since Ryan Fitzpatrick in the early 2000s.. Over the past two seasons as Harvard's full-time starter, he threw for 5,299 yards and 58 touchdowns while completing 61% of his passes.
While either of these two might not have the "NAME" that some other qb's in the portal they both have put up some impressive numbers and likely cost less portal money.

Everything you say about him is true.

What is surprising is that if Trinidad loses his appeal for another year of eligibility…..or wins it but joins Kiffin in Baton Rouge …..Austin would have been the guy in Oxford.

Rebs may be shopping for a QB themselves…..the strong rumor is that Duece Knight from Auburn is coming here.

My nephew works with the football team at Ole Miss and here is what he said about Simmons:

1) Great attitude that other players love.
2) High spirit guy with good work ethic.
3) Terrific athlete. Said he could probably be a starter on the Ole Miss basketball team in addition football and baseball.
4) Strong arm, but not super accurate. Said multiple people compared him to Anthony Richardson when he was at Florida.
5) Needs maturity to read the field and make in play decisions. One knock was if his first target was open it was a completion, if not his instinct is to leave the pocket.
6) Very intelligent and dedicated student. Said he was working to get his college degree in 3 years

This should give us an added dimension but may take some development just like Zoellers.
