OT - Cantwell Made the Right Choice
The Gatorade National Player of the Year in high school from Nixa, MO opted to go to Miami. Based upon last night's game, he was totally correct. The Hurricanes win with the OL and DL. Cantwell will fit into their OL perfectly. His parents are both MU graduates, but Columbia would have been a terrible choice. He is an excellent student, also.
Congratulations, young man! Enjoy your time in South Florida.

Missouri has 3x the number of OL drafted than Miami the last 5 years, so not sure how you say Columbia would be a terrible choice.skeezix wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026 08:04 am The Gatorade National Player of the Year in high school from Nixa, MO opted to go to Miami. Mizzou was like his 5th choice.skeezix wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026 08:04 am The Gatorade National Player of the Year in high school from Nixa, MO opted to go to Miami. He was deciding between Miami and OSU the entire time.
Kid starts next year. It’s almost a certainty

Miami is still playing football and Mizzou isn't.rezero wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026 09:32 amMissouri has 3x the number of OL drafted than Miami the last 5 years, so not sure how you say Columbia would be a terrible choice.skeezix wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026 08:04 am The Gatorade National Player of the Year in high school from Nixa, MO opted to go to Miami. Re: OT - Cantwell Made the Right Choice
Being in the ACC means there are at least 3-4 "walkover" games as opposed to the SEC gauntlet. That will help avoid injuries and exhaustion for Jason. Plus, Miami will probably be in the playoff hunt his entire career; can anyone say that about Mizzou?

Re: OT - Cantwell Made the Right Choice
Yes, keeping "Jason" healthy is a priority, for sure.
Re: OT - Cantwell Made the Right Choice
He made a choice based upon the factors he considered but as to whether it was the right one still has to be borne out.
Re: OT - Cantwell Made the Right Choice
My apology, "Jackson".

Re: OT - Cantwell Made the Right Choice
I feel the right choice for our best home grown talent (especially legacy kids) is always Mizzou.
Not blaming him, obviously we didn’t provide or show him what he was looking for. He’d have gone a long way toward fixing our O Line issues. That would have been what I would have led with if I were recruiting him (and a car, and potato chip brand, and a….).

Re: OT - Cantwell Made the Right Choice
Sure wish Jackson would have stayed home but wish him all the best. MIZ !!
Re: OT - Cantwell Made the Right Choice
Coral Gables is a WHOLE LOT different than Nixa, MO. Like day and night different. I'm sure it was nearly all about the $$$ though and because of that MU was never seriously considered. Wish him the best!
Re: OT - Cantwell Made the Right Choice
He did not sign with Mizzou, so why should anyone care about a kid for Nixa Missouri. A lot of kids go to different schools, unless he is playing for us, I could care less about him playing in Miami.
Re: OT - Cantwell Made the Right Choice
True, but he is not going to Miami next week. Next year is a whole new game and Miami is a senior laden team, so no guarantee they will not be back to their norm for the last 15 years. Jackson should be thinking about who sets him up best for the pros.Luke77 wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026 09:52 amMiami is still playing football and Mizzou isn't.rezero wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026 09:32 amMissouri has 3x the number of OL drafted than Miami the last 5 years, so not sure how you say Columbia would be a terrible choice.skeezix wrote: ↑01 Jan 2026 08:04 am The Gatorade National Player of the Year in high school from Nixa, MO opted to go to Miami. However, things change and maybe he doesn't start right away at Miami.
He could realize that he wants to play and not sit on the bench and just decide to come home and play for Mizzou.
It happens all the time.
Cantwell then hits the transfer portal with a "Do Not Contact" tag and signs with Mizzou and his folks don't have to drive far to see him play.
Maybe wishful thinking on my part.
One good example = Mark Mitchell who went to Duke and changed his mind and transferred to Mizzou

That said, the beaches and weather in Miami are pretty awesome…
