Should have gave both players a penalty if Love actually dived. I personally don’t think he dove as he didn’t see the player coming.

Look at the replay - delayed dive by Harenstam. But, it was also interference. Should have been matching penalties.

Edit: maybe I should take my own advice. I watched it again and now I’m not sure.

He’s seemed a little nervous in his play. I hate using the word timid, but I’m struggling to find another adjective.
Expectations couldn't be higher for him, is he trying to do too much?
I don’t think so, but there is definitely pressure on him. Coming into the tourney, there are some that thought he could wrestle that #1 ranking away from McKenna. Based solely on this tourney…not comparing Stenberg playing in a men’s league in Sweden and leading that league in scoring to McKenna playing NCAA but right now, McKenna looks to closer to an elite talent, while Stenberg looks more like Robert Thomas level not quite elite. That’s just my observation…opinions vary however. Still many games to go, looking forward to watching both players the rest of the way.
My guess is that he is trying to live up to the hype of being the only player that has a commercial running on NHL Network based on his play.

Appreciate your insights. If, and still a BIG if that we pick top 3 or top 5, I’m really hoping we pass on Stenberg. He sounds like a really good player, but I’m not sure he’s what we need. There seem to be other players that will be in the mix that would bring a different dynamic to this team. Again, not a knock on him at all. Just get the Steen Swedish influence along with his brother being here would push us that way. I’m throwing a million assumptions out there though with half a season left. Hope he has a great tourney.

Happy New Year Pierre.

I agree with your first take. It looked like a delayed dive to me. In my opinion 2 penalties should have been called: Goalie interference on the US player, and unsportsmanlike conduce on the Swedish goalie.

All depends on where we land. Assuming we aren’t picking first overall, Belchetz is still my pick right now and I’m also leaning Carels over Verhoeff and Chase Reid should we draft a dman. A lot can change between now and June.
Happy new year to you too! I enjoy your input to the forum.

From Daily Faceoff...

10. Love Härenstam, G, Sweden (St. Louis Blues)
I didn’t love Sweden’s goalie situation heading into the tournament but I was won over thanks to Härenstam. He went 3-0-0 with a .920 save percentage, facing over 30 shots twice. Sweden wasn’t a high-end scoring machine until the second half of the tournament, which meant Härenstam had to be important in those tight games against Switzerland and Slovakia. For what it’s worth, he was the best goalie in the round robin.

He is being touted as the goalie of the tournament but really not saying much. Looked really meh against a much weaker Latvia team. Goaltending has been rather sub this tournament . US goalies were just not good including tonite.
