When healthy, he is a great top of the lineup hitter who can get on base, and even thump from time to time. He would be a great piece in a championship competing lineup.
Hopefully other teams agree.

I think 4 years as a starting outfielder is more than enough time wasted banking on Nootbaar being healthy.

He played in 135 games in ‘25 his stats are above and his OBP was……..325 8O
Again, what am I missing here? Do ya’ll watch the games?? See his career numbers?
There ain’t much there
AND FINALLY he played close to a full season and laid an egg
He was hurt all year. That's why he had surgery as soon as the season was over.

His last "healthy" season was 2023 and he had an OBP of .367 which is very good. It was 17th in all MLB that year.

Teams see that the potential is there. Staying healthy is the greatest obstacle.

the proof is in the interest from major league teams, obviously they see the upside.
That’s fantastic! Trade him asap

There's just not that many great hitters any more. In 2025, there were only 18 players with an OPS of .850 or above. Even just 15 years ago (2010) there were 35 players with an OPS of .850 or above. Hitters just suck now, mostly.
Well we agree there
I’d say the pitching is so much better and could point to the pitch speed as one example of this as seen below from @codifybaseball. However I did look at avg runs per game and in 2025, the avg was 8.89 vs 8.10 in 2010, or 10% higher. (Source: ChatGPT)

So while individual batter numbers are down, they are producing more runs. My guess is it come down to doing “damage” at particular moments.

The entire globe is scanned for pitching talent. The money, people, and technology poured into develop these pitchers has never been more. The fastballs are faster, and spinning stuff nastier than it has ever been. Hitting a baseball is the hardest thing to do in sports.

Yes, we appreciate our Silver Slugger Superman. I wonder though if there might be a team out there that appreciates him even more than we do? Hard to fathom someone loving Burly more than us?
It’s hard to fathom Burleson’s wife loving him more than Shady does.

Burleson's wife only loves him as a "Utility" slugger, but Shady loves him as a "Full Blown" regular slugger! That kind of love Shady has for Burly is very rare.

I guess the thinking is he played all season with bad heels which would have an impact on his production. I think he could have a really good season if he stays healthy the problem is I don’t think he can. But he will probably be like O’Neil cards will trade him then he will have a good season where he manages to stay somewhat healthy and the same ones that flamed him will be saying how stupid bloom was for trading him the same way they did with O’Neil in 2024 flaming mo for trading him
If his poor heels were hurting that bad then why was he playing?? Team was out of it in 2nd half
The excuses for this guy year after year are truly hilarious
I’m not making excuses I’m stating facts if they are interested in they must think the same thing and he was playing the same reason as Winn kept playing they wanted to play. Any intelligent person would know since he had surgery to fix them they were obviously a problem
Perhaps I missed it, but I never heard during the season that both heels were bad…..so where is this coming from that he was injured the whole season ? Heels could’ve deteriorated the last couple weeks of season……
I guess you did miss it the heels have been bothering him intermittently for two years and got worse this season until he had to have the surgery

Does it sound reasonable that NOOT and the Cards agreed he start and play full games in a worthless Sept all the way to the 161st game of the season? He was so disabled that it made him produce such inferior full season stats? If this was such a debilitating injury why didn’t they sit him well before the 161st game of the season and schedule surgery??

Nothing near what they probably could have. Mo's hand-picked pud of a manager foolishly trashed O'Neill twice in the media. Incorrectly implying he lacked hustle. That damaged trade value. Hopefully, Bloom can convince the dugout dumb[ash] to not shoot his mouth off in the future.

Yeah, I think there are still teams that see him as a Brandon Nimmo type of player with better pure bat to ball skills.

It definitely sounds reasonable that a physical problem can get worse over time progressing from slight irritation until he has to finally get surgery. Winn played with a knee injury too until it got so bad he had to go on the IL and had to have surgery. There are people all the time that have injuries and get worse until finally they become so bad they have to have surgery. Oh but I guess you think he didn’t have the heel problem until the last game of the season lol

Of all the players on the team, I can’t think of one i have less memory of performance, than this player. Never crosses my mind. Maybe that’s a reflection of his availability.
