Well, the key factor for salary with forwards is pts and the key factor for defenseman is ice time (27:58 today). There is definitely other factors for both but they only move the salary so much. Have to remember most 34-36 pt forwards are only getting paid around 3.5, so I feel that 5.5-6 million is accounting for some of those factors. No I'm saying he has 1 less point than Pius Suter who we are paying 4.125 a year. League value isn't based off the numbers you are putting up against only your teammates but the entire league. Once again when it comes to defenseman.. ice time and pairing are the key factors... average salary for first pairing defenseman with 22-25 minutes a night is between 9-11 million. So Yes Broberg is being penalized for lack of points when you look at my evaluation

I’m starting to think that maybe Holloway could be the trade chip for another nhl level defenseman. I think he’ll get his game going again, but our organizational depth is still at wing. And I’d prefer to trade Buch, but I don’t think he brings anything of value back right now.
