I think Mailloux will be fine long-term but at this point if he's going to be in and out of the lineup, wouldn't it make more sense to have him play EVERY game in the AHL and then be the first call-up whenever there's injuries?

I just feel like having a guy like Calle Rosen or Hunter Skinner makes more sense right now.

The Blues top four needs to be Fowler, Parayko, Faulk and Broberg.

Beyond that I don't hate a 5-7 of Tucker, Kessel and Rosen/Skinner....

Im as big of a fan of Mailloux’s potential as anyone, but at this point, even tho he’s been an Allstar in both his AHL seasons, I think sendin him down is in his best interest longterm so he can get his shattered confidence back. Stickin him with sheeet Dmen like Tucker is just going to to stunt his development, and Monty obviously doesn’t have the necessary patience to stick him with a better D who can help cover his mistakes, and it looks like he’s been told to focus on defensive responsibilities only cause his calling card, offensive production, is not just lacking, it’s non-existent.

Thankfully Ive abandoned my old impatient ‘BEGREATAFTER15GAMESORGTFO’ self and I realize that it’s going to take time for him to blossom into who he can be, despite all of his impatient haters who havent a single clue about what he’s capable of with time and structure and support…They’ll be proven either right or wrong in time, but at this moment, they dont know how he’ll end up, neither do I, but at least I and others acknowledge he has to have time. I just hope the Blues are taking the long view on him too by doing the necessary amount of teaching behind the scenes, otherwise it really will be a wasted trade.

He just needs time and confidence, period. Kessel and Tucker are JAG and look like overrated turds alit of the time out there, so its obvious the Blues still need to draft D until and if a couple of the other Dmen in the system become studs, hopefully.

Blues need to stick with him, Skinner may be marginally better but the investment has been made Mailloux has shown incremental progress its going to take minutes and time.
As others have said the real issue here is the way the Blues built their D corp. They really struggle to carry LM right now because the other bottom pairing guys are Tucker and Kessel.
Btw the Habs played Bolduc only 9:11 in their last match, Zack is pretty much also a project still the Habs have a lot of forward depth. Both guys will develop in time gotta be patient

Has he shown incremental progress though? What have you tangibly seen that has gotten better? He looks the same to me.

Play him plus 20-minutes a night in Springfield.

He's not going to get any better sitting in the press box at Enterprise.

Tucker Kessel and Mailloux leave much to be desired.
Im not sure about Logan. Seems like he is a mess.

Need Lindstein to have great year in AHL.
And then hopefully Jiricek and Fischer are legit.
