Man, I can’t believe Hofer is getting the start. I guess Monty is letting him fight through it, but he has looked horrible. Like someone has been drugging him bad. Maybe he’s trying to get the rest of the team to be more defensive responsible? It’s a head scratcher for sure.

Probably because he thinks Hofer has a better chance against the Blue Jackets than he would starting against McDavid or Ovechkin in one of the next 2 upcoming games. They're most likely all 3 Ls anyway.

I share your frustration but these are professionals under contract, have to play them (or move them). I don't believe Hofer is really as bad as he's played, I think it's mental and he'll snap out of it. Sometime.

Plus I think until he gets it together Monty will try to play him in road games. Booing is not going to help his recovery.
