Student section seating Mizzou Arena
There’s going to be a mutiny and boycott by students, maybe the Antlers, if they don’t do something about the new arrangement.
It looks terrible and hurts the game day experience. It’s already dumb to only have students behind 1 basket. I’ve long wished they’d put students courtside and all the way down the sideline too, maybe up to the 5th or 6th row. Think Duke. I personally don’t like being closer than the 5th or 6th row anyway.
Now they’ve been shifted further away and higher. It was a really, really, really dumb thing to do. Anyone know who’s decision that was?

I have no idea who made this decision.
The reason is money. It's always money.

I agree, except there’s hardly any seating added. It’s just pushed the students higher and further away with a goofy black curtain hanging down below them. Almost like the goal was to restrict and corral them.Francis Park Thug wrote: ↑29 Oct 2025 20:44 pm I have no idea who made this decision.

Re: Student section seating Mizzou Arena
Armchair do you know if the section is any larger? It is interesting that in the 80s the Antlers were on the side, then slowly the student section has been moving to lower cost type seats. Som arenas have gotten past it with more luxury and full service food seating in these sections and let the kids maintain the very close seats that may not be the best from a view point anyway.

No it’s less seating. It looks bad. They’ve probably already messed it up for this season. I’m sure the courtside seats they installed are sold. IMO if this is the way it is they should at least make it less of an eyesore.

I am 80 yrs old and use to stand in line at Brewer field house to get the good seats. Old folks and I dont care if they have money do not need to be close to the floor. If you really want a home court advantage, move the old farts back and let the students in the "good" seats !!
Re: Student section seating Mizzou Arena
I don't know why the powers that be at Mizzou can't understand the value that: 1. Having students low next to the court 2. Having that side of the court shown on TV all the time would bring in terms of perception.
All the empty seats in the high dollar sections behind the bench have looked terrible since the place opened.

Abner is correct. Nobody wants to see a bunch of old folks in the stands on TV. Opposing teams also don't find that the least bit intimidating. Pack the floor perimeter with students who can stand and jump around the entire game. Old folks have had their time and it's about the student experience.dugoutrex wrote: ↑01 Nov 2025 12:19 pmstrange take imoabnerdoubled wrote: ↑01 Nov 2025 10:18 am I am 80 yrs old and use to stand in line at Brewer field house to get the good seats. Abner is 100% right. Students should more or less surround the court in the closest seats and have at least 1 sideline and areas behind both baskets. Those are the worst seats for viewing anyway. You have to be 8-10 rows up to see the court really well. Then you’d get that raucous environment. Again, think Duke.dugoutrex wrote: ↑01 Nov 2025 12:19 pmstrange take imoabnerdoubled wrote: ↑01 Nov 2025 10:18 am I am 80 yrs old and use to stand in line at Brewer field house to get the good seats. Mizzou doesn’t get it.
