If Mizzou wins out in the regular season, Drink deserves an extension

If Mizzou wins out in the regular season, Drink deserves an extension
At least two years added at 10 mil per year. With a huge buyout, I might add.
Re: If Mizzou wins out in the regular season, Drink deserves an extension
Unless they tank, he’s getting a significant extension offer to try keeping him here. If he’s getting courtesy by other schools and Mizzou doesn’t show interest in keeping him, then he’s gone. Of course, the board will not let him go without a fight
Re: If Mizzou wins out in the regular season, Drink deserves an extension
He is currently the 10th highest paid HC in the NCAA and 5th in SEC, I think he is paid where he needs to be as he just signed an extension three months ago through 2029.
Re: If Mizzou wins out in the regular season, Drink deserves an extension
Exactly. Let's not get ridiculous. He's not on the same level as DeBoer or Smart or Kiffin yet. Has a lot to prove.
Re: If Mizzou wins out in the regular season, Drink deserves an extension
It's all about the market and suddenly his name is being brought up by several fan bases as in the conversation. While a football self described nerd and Kiffin is the flavor of the moment by even bama and FL as a headhunter I can tell you lots of different emotional things happen when a company realizes they might lose a very key employee. Might get a bump but thanks for reminding us he just signed a extension and didn't realize he was 10th in CFB which is nice.
uneverknow when the coaching carousel is spinning. But truly he has it made and has gotten everything he ever wanted in a Power 4 program with reasonable fans and Bosses who greatly appreciate things. That's huge.

You are the one that's being ridiculous by underestimating Drinkwitz. You don't seem to understand and appreciate the uptrend he has firmly established with the Missouri football program. Ex. recruiting success.

Re: If Mizzou wins out in the regular season, Drink deserves an extension
You are overestimating him at this point in his coaching career. He is the 10th highest paid coach. That is more than fair. And you think he should be Top 5, I guess.
Just as you overestimate predict just about every single Cardinals prospect for stardom. You being you.
Re: If Mizzou wins out in the regular season, Drink deserves an extension
Drinkwitz is right there with DeBoer and Kiffin, right now. And is getting closer to Smart in head coaching status. Drink can recruit with any of them. Since you mentioned Cardinals prospects. My successful Burleson forecast stands alone among CT posters.icon wrote: ↑22 Oct 2025 11:03 amYou are overestimating him at this point in his coaching career. He is the 10th highest paid coach. I think you’re misunderstanding the situation. He might not be the 10th best coach in America, much less top 5, but with all the high profile jobs up for grabs this coming offseason, Mizzou needs to determine whether or not they want to keep him. If they do, and it takes $12M to do it, then the Board will at least make the offer and they should. It’s a supply and demand issue and Mizzou is not a blue blood school. That means they may have to over pay to compensate. The university needs those new suites filled and the stadium sold out. The best way to ensure that is to keep Drink. No telling what happens if he leaves. Hiring coaches is a complete crapshoot. Just ask Florida, FSU, LSU, Auburn, etc. Mizzou should much rather prefer to pay Drink what it takes rather than searching for a head coach at the same time as PSU, Florida, Arkansas and possibly FSU, LSU, and who knows who else.icon wrote: ↑22 Oct 2025 11:03 amYou are overestimating him at this point in his coaching career. OK, but let him earn the extension based on the premise in the thread title or based on at least making the CFP at 10-2. As of right now, he is fairly paid. And he's not going anywhere before this season ends.woofy25 wrote: ↑22 Oct 2025 11:26 amI think you’re misunderstanding the situation. Re: If Mizzou wins out in the regular season, Drink deserves an extension
There's an old saying. The first check you write every month goes towards the mortgage. The second check goes towards insurance.
An extension is insurance, and as the property increases in value, you redo the kitchen and add an addition, then you have to accept that the insurance premiums will rise.
If Drink doesn't get an extension, he could leave. If he does get one, he most likely won't leave.

Re: If Mizzou wins out in the regular season, Drink deserves an extension
What is the minimum record for which you’d entertain an extension and raise? You said “at least making the cfp at 10-2.” If that is your minimum and he goes 9-3, then he likely leaves if no extension offered. Then, Mizzou is likely right back with the kentuckys and sour Carolina’s fighting for 10th place in the league.icon wrote: ↑22 Oct 2025 11:43 amOK, but let him earn the extension based on the premise in the thread title or based on at least making the CFP at 10-2. And why do you care how much he’s paid anyway? If they make him the highest paid coach, I’ll grant that it’d be weird, but why would anyone care, especially if the alternative is to hire someone like the south Florida coach and pray it works.
Re: If Mizzou wins out in the regular season, Drink deserves an extension
I'd be surprised if Drinkwitz left even without being offered an extension this season. He has a lot of things going for him, right now, at Mizzou.
Re: If Mizzou wins out in the regular season, Drink deserves an extension
You are delusional if you think he is in the same category as those coaches.Shady wrote: ↑22 Oct 2025 11:05 amDrinkwitz is right there with DeBoer and Kiffin, right now. Smart has 2 national championship as HC, 4 national championships as a DC, and 3 SEC championships. Ryan Day has national championship and 5 Big10 championship. Dabo has two national championships and 9 ACC championships. DeBoer has worn 2 conference titles, three NAIA national championships, and been in BCS national championship. Well Belichick is simply Belichick.
Drink has potential to be in the same category as the elite coaches, but first he needs to banked a few titles along the way.
Re: If Mizzou wins out in the regular season, Drink deserves an extension
Exactly, on the recent extension. You are right, Drinkwitz needs to show some championship production to elevate his status. But some of the coaches you rated ahead of Drinkwitz really haven't had big time success recently. Namely Sweeney, and Belichick. I like the upward trend Drink has going at Mizzou.
