Yep.
Specifically designed to keep one player in the game as much as possible.
Thereby giving one team an advantage.
Currently, that the is the Dodgers.

I’m dumb what rule? Taken out after 6 but hit in 7th as DH?
Hmmm...not quite a cogent thought on your part.dugoutrex wrote: ↑18 Oct 2025 10:18 amderpMelville wrote: ↑18 Oct 2025 10:05 amSo the best player in baseball is therefore entitled to a rule which benefits him specifically?
Hmmm....maybe the NBA should allow Jokic 10 personal fouls to ensure he stays in the game.
The reasoning would be exactly the same as the Ohtani Rule.
Weird how MLB's best player needs the added protection of a special rule.....

Perhaps more time should be granted?
Let's try that.
The rule was specifically created to accomplish one thing: keep MLB's best all-around player (and #1 marketing asset) in games as much as possible.
How would that be any different from the NBA creating a special rule for Jokic to remain is a game after fouling out?
Ohtani is an elite 2-way players and a marketing cash cow.
Jokic is an elite 3-way player and a marketing cash cow.
The NBA creating a rule designed solely to keep Jokic on the court would be in no way different from what MLB has done for Ohtani.
Not true, Brum. If Cruz had learned how to catch as a child, he could have stopped the Cards.BrummerStealsHome wrote: ↑18 Oct 2025 11:34 amOh, f off. The Dodgers have the most talent in baseball and are the best team in the NL, if not the majors. Sometimes the best team in baseball doesn't finish with the best record. Some baseball fans still consider that a bit of a fluke. The Cards caught fire at the right time and stole a championship, the story sometimes goes. No, the Cardinals were the best team in baseball. They underperformed for large stretches the first four months of the season. Then in August they came together and started playing up to their talent level. After that, no one could stop the Cardinals from winning the pennant but themselves.
Back in my day ballplayers didn’t receive money for the services they provided
Had Newt Bar delivered us Ohtani he would have been thoroughly investigated for that gambling.

Ohtani might be wearing pinstripes right now if he wasn't a Dodger.

So if Ohtani was not a Dodger right now, it isn't possible that he would instead be a Yankee?OldRed wrote: ↑18 Oct 2025 17:07 pmAgain you just proved you are uninformed, not informed and out of touch. The bookie who took Ohtani's money via the interpreter (it is rather conveniently - and certainly fortuitously - claimed that 16M dollars changed hands without Ohtani or others noticing that 8 years of salary under his current contract was missing) stated in an interview that of the hundreds of people who participated in his illegal gambling ring, he estimated roughly 10 were MLB players.MrPostman01 wrote: ↑18 Oct 2025 16:47 pmHad Newt Bar delivered us Ohtani he would have been thoroughly investigated for that gambling.
Ruth was the greatest 2 way player in history.JohnnyMO wrote: ↑18 Oct 2025 18:14 pm The NBA tweaks rules all the time both written and unwritten. Just watch a game from the 90’s vs a modern game.
The NFL does the same thing.
MLB didn’t have any legit two way players before. When one appeared they had to figure out how to handle it and they did. Nothing wrong with that.
not true - Sonny Gray gets to stay in too, if he is ever a DH - now make my sandwich girlMelville wrote: ↑18 Oct 2025 18:20 pmRuth was the greatest 2 way player in history.JohnnyMO wrote: ↑18 Oct 2025 18:14 pm The NBA tweaks rules all the time both written and unwritten. Better pitcher and better hitter than Ohtani.
MLB did not change the rules with the specific intent of giving just him an advantage.
But they certainly did for Ohtani.
By the way, EVERY team has multiple two-way and three-way players.
Ohtani is the ONLY one to have a rule created for his own personal benefit.
