Re: J carb hot start
I’m guessing the Blues sent him back with instructions to work on his defensive game. If he can keep scoring like this and improve his defensive game, I’m guessing we will see him here later this season.

At this point, he can only rejoin the Blues when the Armada’s season is over. But the Armada are the juggernaut and likely to go deep in the Q playoffs and probably the Memorial Cup too. We won’t be seeing Carbonneau in a bluenote this season.Frank Underwood wrote: ↑14 Oct 2025 10:13 am I’m guessing the Blues sent him back with instructions to work on his defensive game. Agreed. He has very high offensive potential. But we also need to be patient with him. Let him develop.bud white wrote: ↑14 Oct 2025 10:37 am... and there is no need to. Let him develop. His chances of making Canada’s WJC team appear to be increasing too if some of his competition can stick on NHL rosters. Canada appears loaded this year but I guess we’ll see just how many of them stick around beyond the 9 game trial.

My thought is if you don't have to bring them up the first year, you prefer not to. What you want is that player in the system tho attempting to get better at what they will be expected to perform when they get to the main club. It's a lot easier in juniors or AHL to do that. Way harder in NCAA and other Pro leagues like Sweden. There's too many variables when a young guy comes up. Even if they are on a playoff contending team like the Blues, if they have holes in their game that vets aren't comfortable with, resentment sets in. But when they are more familiar with you because you have been with the org for a couple years, they know you have paid your dues in some capacity.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑14 Oct 2025 10:43 amAgreed. Bad orgs don't get that luxury. The Blues are in no rush here, and in fact need to clear a couple spots with Joseph/Texier/Torpedo/Sunny next year. I think 1 maybe 2 of those guys come back, and they need 2 to replace for current starts and then a depth piece.

He demonstrated last year that he had outgrown the Q. His current trajectory is to be expected. His development would've been better served by playing a year of college hockey, but I'm sure there was a lot of talk that went on behind closed doors that led to this decision. The main thing was this decision allowed him to spend the preseason with the Blues. I'm sure all will be fine, but it would've been nice for him to play this season against some tougher competition.

Can't disagree with this. He will have a lot of highlights get posted all year long because his team's a juggernaut who has yet to lose in regulation after 9 games, they are going to roll through the Q.Sweetred95ta wrote: ↑14 Oct 2025 10:59 am He demonstrated last year that he had outgrown the Q. I believe DA said on a 101 interview that the Blues never get involved in a “college” decision. If the kid doesn’t want to go to college….the team doesn’t force it.seattleblue wrote: ↑14 Oct 2025 11:13 amCan't disagree with this. So what's the consensus on what his realistic path of development should be?
The Q this year. Then what for the next two? I was surprised he went back to the Q since he seemed to already max out there.

Which is why they didn't force it here. “College hockey is beneficial in some ways because of the training,” Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said at development camp. “You get to get bigger, stronger, more days in the gym, less games. He’s a big man, though, now. Junior hockey, to me, has a lot of benefits, too. If you’re on a good team, you get seven-game playoff series. In college, it’s one and done.”

“Winning a championship is something since I was 16 years old I wanted to do,” Carbonneau told Flo Sports’ Justin Peters at the ongoing World Juniors Summer Showcase in Minneapolis, MN., “I love the group of guys we have so it would be hard for me to leave that.”

Yep, that’s why he went back. Besides him, they made 2 big trades to bring in 2 other 1st round talents and he didn’t want to disappoint his teammates he’d played with 3 years now and leave…even if leaving was probably better for his development.John Cocktoastin wrote: ↑14 Oct 2025 11:47 am “Winning a championship is something since I was 16 years old I wanted to do,” Carbonneau told Flo Sports’ Justin Peters at the ongoing World Juniors Summer Showcase in Minneapolis, MN., “I love the group of guys we have so it would be hard for me to leave that.”
That said, he can still develop in the Q. He just won’t be forced to as he could absolutely ignore the defensive side of the game and play a jr style of game that wouldn’t fly in the pros (or even college) and be successful there.
But also, being on a juggernaut isn’t horrible either. It’s certainly better than being on a (bleep) team where you have no other talent around you. He’ll play with other talented players and that should help his creativity. And eventually, his team will face adversity and to get over the hump, he’ll need to add being a good defensive player too.
We’ll just have to see how the year goes and how he looks next September.

Good call. Yeah, I was thinking we could see him when his junior season ends, but I forgot how good Armada was this season. Oh well, as others mentioned, no need to rush him anyway.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑14 Oct 2025 10:24 amAt this point, he can only rejoin the Blues when the Armada’s season is over. Re: J carb hot start
Its funny how people are clamoring about JCarb and want him here right away. Yet people want to already ship Logan to the minors after 3 games. We have given up 9 goals this season and 2 or 3 of those were unlucky bounces off of Tucker. How many giveways of Maillouxs has directly resulted in a goal against.
