Horton is an idiot, yes
Re: Did Ricky Horton just say what I thought he said about Burleson?
At Burleson's low salary, he continues to be a "bright spot". For a team that doesn't have a lot of "bright spots" in terms of salary/production.

zero chance he brings a return of a #2 with control. actually a -17% chanceShady wrote: ↑17 Sep 2025 19:21 pm Wonder is Horton feels that, if the Cardinals actually shopped Burleson, they could get an up and coming #2 type starting pitcher with quite a few years of control for Burly. Who should be coming into his prime. With the need for offense, I don't feel the Cardinals would even consider it. Though they could sure use quality starting pitch help.

Not a chance in h e l l they'd get more than a #3 starter for him straight up.
Couple Noot w/Burly and you MIGHT get a low level #2 starter.
And 100% the Cardinals would not only consider it but drool at some idiot GM giving them a #2 starter for him.

If at first you don’t succeed in getting the desired answer to a stupid question, ask again. And again, and again, and again, and again. Someone might eventually agree? If not, you can always make a couple sock accounts and agree with yourself! Even though we live in a 3 true outcomes era, it's still shocking to see, per Red's link, there are only 2 guys in the NL above. 300.
Re: Did Ricky Horton just say what I thought he said about Burleson?
This statement is about as disgusting as all those “big fly” calls

Burleson is putting together another productive season. And he's trending upward going into next season. As opposed to last season.OldRed wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 11:14 am Well, he is 8th in the NL.

Nope, not trending "upward".Shady wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 12:00 pmBurleson is putting together another productive season. And he's trending upward going into next season. As opposed to last season.OldRed wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 11:14 am Well, he is 8th in the NL.

1st Half
.293 .340 .466 .805
2nd Half
.273 .335 .455 .790
But much better than 2025 fall off.
His conditioning is terrible, needs to drop 25 lbs.
Re: Did Ricky Horton just say what I thought he said about Burleson?
Really anyone capable of critical thinking knows Horton was talking ba. Horton can be silly, but he was a major league player and knows more about baseball than a majority of the contributors on cards talk. I probably like Burleson better than most, but it's not because he fits the profile that teams look for in today's game. He doesn’t. His defense is problematic. But his bat to ball skills are good, and with a team short on power, and with no sign we will be signing any , guys like Burleson are what we have in the system coming up that may be able to help score runs. But we have to rid ourselves of the guys who can't provide power or obp.

He is just fine at his weight. Not everyone can be built like Willie Mcgee. And what do you know about his conditioning and how strong he is?rockondlouie wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 12:18 pmNope, not trending "upward".Shady wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 12:00 pmBurleson is putting together another productive season. No he's not, at 6'/225lbs (listed but looks heavier) he's a good 25 lbs over weight.OldRed wrote: ↑18 Sep 2025 12:27 pmHe is just fine at his weight. Not everyone can be built like Willie Mcgee.
