Murph said, ' Sonny Gray pitched very well and held us in check . He then said (paraphrasing ) ' Herrera , sign him up . This kid can flat out hit .'
Donovan and Burleson also are good hitters too.

Herrera, Burleson, Donovan, Saggese, Wetherholt, and Winn are a good place to start and build around, but none of them are Superstars, yet! Arenado was at one time, but not anymore. I’m interested in seeing how Crooks develops with this group too. After that everyone else needs replaced. So, basically, they have their infield and catching covered, but no quality outfielders. Scott needs to be a guy who plays a lot of small ball, and just tries to get on base anyway possible and he can’t bunt or slap the ball to left, and doesnt walk much, so he’s not the answer. The Cardinals need an all new outfield.

Pat Murphy’s Early Career
Murphy began his coaching journey at an early age. He started as an assistant coach at the University of Florida, which laid the groundwork for his future in baseball. His dedication and keen understanding of the sport led him to several head coaching positions in college baseball.
Notably, Murphy served as the head coach at Arizona State University and the University of Notre Dame, where he was instrumental in developing young talent. His success at these institutions eventually paved the way for his transition to Major League Baseball.

It would have been more helpful for him to say "Marmol makes it ridiculously easier for us, and we are never out of a game because the Cardinals don't know to which base the ball should be thrown, do not understand the concept of a cutoff man, don't know how to shorten a swing in order to put the ball in play with a runner on 3rd base, have no idea who should be pitching the 9th inning for them, have little understanding of how fundamentals determine game outcomes, and in general lack the ability to pay attention to every pitch and every play".

Come on, Mel. The Cards don’t mean to suck. Are you saying Marmol is not a leader of men? Was watching the game last night when Scott threw to 3rd base, not having a chance in hell to get the runner, allowing the hitter to turn a single into a double. I looked at my son and said you knew not to do that when you were 12. Where did these morons learn the game? We are being asked to pay huge amounts for tickets to watch an OFer not know squat about the cut off man. Stupid. Hey Bill, watch your team play sometime and ask questions.Melville wrote: ↑14 Sep 2025 09:11 amIt would have been more helpful for him to say "Marmol makes it ridiculously easier for us, and we are never out of a game because the Cardinals don't know to which base the ball should be thrown, do not understand the concept of a cutoff man, don't know how to shorten a swing in order to put the ball in play with a runner on 3rd base, have no idea who should be pitching the 9th inning for them, have little understanding of how fundamentals determine game outcomes, and in general lack the ability to pay attention to every pitch and every play".

Craig Counsell played for Murph at Notre Dame. Brought his old coach to Brewers as his bench coach.OldRed wrote: ↑14 Sep 2025 08:38 amPat Murphy’s Early Career
