Baseball is hard, what can you say?
And the Cardinals aren't as bad as many around here like to act like they are. Yes, .500 teams are not good. We should expect much better as Cardinals fans. But acting like we are some embarrassing franchise and Mo is this world class, awful GM is wrong.
mlb is not good, it has bottomed out as a sport. hopefully some of these younger guys can bring it back.
teams used to have 3-4 stars, or quality players. your lucky to find 1 star on some teams. cardinals would have 4-6 stars, they dont have 1. maybe JJ is that guy, we hope.
also, this stl team would be 20-30 under 3-4 years ago.
also, with the way the cardinals division is tanking nearly every other years, they should always be around .500 half the teams in division arent trying yearly. cubs will be back in rebuild mode soon, pirates will always be in rebuild mode, and cinccy is heading that way once tito is gone.

Baseball is going the way of NASCAR. Regional. When Dale Sr died, the sport nose dived.
Baseball is a pass time. A calm affair with embedded emotional surges. It can’t match college football or March madness basketball.
Without a needed face lift, baseball is soon to fall behind soccer.
I don't think baseball salaries and ticket prices should exceed inflation. Am hoping a major correction happens before 2 expansion teams dilutes the sport. The WS like the ASG had lost its luster as shown by TV ratings.

They sport a $396M payroll.
Supposedly have one of the best farm systems.
Some of the best players in baseball.
Barely winning their division.
In a playoff race and faced the Pirates for 3 games.
Ended up losing all 3 games to those Pirates.
Just friggin mediocre for what they spend and talent they have.
Their manager must be the most overrated ever.
I'd fire that sob tomorrow after losing 3 to the Pirates.
Bloody insane.
that farm system is grossly overrated. i looked the other day, an majority are 25/26 year olds.
ive been saying for many years to stay away from trading for their overrated junk. as bad as when mlb used to claim every yankee prospect was top10.
Interesting point on the age factor. Sounds like a bunch of highly experienced 4A players. They should be performing well. That along with the hype machine probably does keep them overrated. Agree on not trading with them.

An actual pennant race with a team that is talented enough to go all the way is a lot less of a calm affair. I remember being on the edge of my seat from the whole second half on during our deep playoff run years.

Tough gig. Imagine being the lowest paid guy at your job and trying to run around telling everyone what to do. Especially when they feel they know the job better than you.

True. You are correct. The team must be in n the race. And still there will be games with much calmness.
Compared to the ever present possibilities of college football or basketball, it pales in instant and continuous emotion.

Slower.
I agree there are two very different dynamics when comparing style and pace of game, and if you like football as much or better than baseball then it comes down to personal preference.
All I can say is all those years we’ve had good teams I never heard much complaint about pace of game. It was more about quality of play and the slower climactic build up was still very exciting. I’ve never been as excited during a football game as I was during game 6 in 2011.
I don’t think the game itself is flawed, but the way it’s currently being played is. Hopefully the proven approaches of old will make a comeback. If these physically superior modern athletes would play it the way it was meant to be played it could be better than ever.

Again a very good write. Your whole third paragraph is classic. “ the way the game is being played”. Bravo.

Medium and small market teams are afraid of the player's union. Big market teams like the lack of a payroll cap.

Let’s see. They lead their division. Team is deep with best player in the world on their roster. They won WS in 2024 and 2020. Yet you say they suck based on one series? Dude the Cardinals and organization can’t come close to filling out their jock straps.
+1 they’ve also been to the World Series four times in the last eight seasons winning it twice. I wish the cardinals could suck that bad
