Sounds like saying it privately didn't work.Galatians221jb1 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 21:42 pm https://x.com/stlsprtscntrl/status/1962 ... 61637?s=46
Can’t imagine Bloom would be impressed with Brown going public and criticizing a players work ethic. Weird.

This may not be popular but a CHANGE OF SCENERY may be what Walker needs.

I'd start with a change in hitting coach.rockondlouie wrote: ↑03 Sep 2025 12:17 pm This may not be popular but a CHANGE OF SCENERY may be what Walker needs.
I was hoping BB would do well, but currently this team's hitters rank last in the league (I believe) vs fastballs.

Bringo!
Re: Brant Brown rips Walker
Don’t like the public criticism from Coach on player. If not doing what needs to be done cut his donkey, send him down, etc. lots of options

I am sure that it would be quite easy to hire someone with minimal talent to replace almost every member of this coaching staff. I don’t think you’ll see much wringing of hands when one of these spares leaves.Melville wrote: ↑03 Sep 2025 08:29 amBrown did not say one word without prior knowledge, planning, and approval from The Marmot.3dender wrote: ↑03 Sep 2025 08:08 am Did anyone here actually listen to the interview? Brown and Marmol didn't sound angry at all. Seemed like they were trying to be pretty diplomatic but also transparent. It did not appear pre-meditated or calculated, and it acually felt like they had not considered at all how this might be portrayed in the media.
My overarching takeaway is not actually at all about JW, it's about how thoughtless and dumb Marmol/Brown are to say things like this without any apparent care for the consequences. It literally cannot accomplish one productive thing, and will likely lead to multiple downsides both for the player and the team. Cause most human beings simply don't respond to well to public humiliation.
Incredibly stupid on their part.
Funny thing is that in trying to back the bus over Walker, they exposed their own incompetence behind the wheel.
Walker may or may not be on his way out the door - but they certainly are.
Easiest decision Bloom will make all off-season.

It can work. Just not my preference.Rojo Johnson wrote: ↑03 Sep 2025 12:50 pmIt’s funny that Ken Hitchcock did so well as a HC in hockey. Throwing players under the bus was a big part of his MO.

My God.
Just put a Caution Fragile label below each player's uniform
and be done with it.
It's pro sports and you get paid to win not worry about every thing that is said.

Bloom has not told Woo or Goold what he plans to do - he does not even have the job yet.hmoss859 wrote: ↑03 Sep 2025 10:25 amYou do realize the decision to bring back Oli and his coaches has already been madeMelville wrote: ↑03 Sep 2025 08:29 amBrown did not say one word without prior knowledge, planning, and approval from The Marmot.3dender wrote: ↑03 Sep 2025 08:08 am Did anyone here actually listen to the interview? This is per Katie Woo and Derrick Goold reporting
I think they need to clean house but they won’t
As for Jordan Walker he needs a complete rebuild of stance, swing, pitch recognition, etc
Further, organizational meetings take place after the season is over.
Bottom line.
The Marmot and his coaches have not been retained for 2026 at this point.
As for Walker, he needs a new organization.

Neither Goold nor Woo has any more information than you do.

Correct.
I advise organizations for a living.
And I am very good at it.
Credit should be shared with others and praise for results should be public.
Blame should first be shouldered by those in leadership, and constructive fact-based criticism should be conducted in private at the individual level.
These are non-negotiable requirement to create a healthy and productive environment which leads to success.
Failure to do so makes overall failure inevitable.
The Cardinals have a TOXIC CULTURE.

They've already sent him down. And while we can't know what's going on in private, it sounds like he's been told he needs to work harder.
Some kids you can reason with, others you can threaten, some have to be shamed into doing their job. Sounds like the hitting coach is on that last option.

I agree that the Cardinal brass isn't good at taking blame, at least not in public. But the Cardinals are pretty good at offering public praise for positive results. And we don't know what's going on in private.Melville wrote: ↑03 Sep 2025 13:27 pmCorrect.

I would want to know much more before I'd say the Cards have a toxic culture.
Re: Brant Brown rips Walker
That's an interesting take. That might be a good plan if it could be worked out. Isn't Brown just admitting he can't reach this guy to the world? We've all seen Walker do things that are not part of the hitting Bible. Maybe he's just trying to put a little extra pressure on him.Galatians221jb1 wrote: ↑02 Sep 2025 22:10 pm Walker should try to work with McGuire in the off season. Mark was 6’5” so he can relate to the issues Walker faces at 6’6”. I think he’s been over coached and is frustrated and confused. But Brown should deal with this privately. Looks like he’s trying to exonerate his coaching efforts and blaming Walker for being uncoachable. Bloom has to assume Brown can’t handle young players and move on from him.
