If Marmol stays, it speaks poorly of Bloom's autonomy and/or decision-making skills.

The top priority should be moving past the Mozeliak era and signaling to the fans that there is a new sheriff in town.

That starts with replacing Marmol. If that doesn't happen, nothing has changed. Maybe because ownership has already written off 2026 as a lost year due to the impending strike.

Or maybe because nothing has changed.

Most likely we are stuck with him for at least another year.
While I'd like a change, at the same time I can't complain about how Marmol has performed.
He's done more with less than many could.
I'd say he's now a lock to be here in 2026.
And maybe that isn't such a bad thing.
Finally getting his sea legs.
Not a fan but if they finish the year well he probably deserves another year. Hard to judge him due to lack of talent and depth.
The more experience he gets, the better he performs.
Like you said, he hasn't been given a great roster.
Hard to judge a man with this level of talent.
The fact that they are above .500 is a testament to Marmol's abilities.
I don't see them making a change.
Generally, they like continuity.
I give Marmol credit for turning 2024's atrocious defense around (but then again, doesn't that prove that he also deserves blame for why it got so terrible?)

Other than that, how exactly is he a plus manager? He still sits hot players (Walker is the latest example). He still puts together line-ups that make no sense.

I think he's about a 0 WAR manager. Not bad, but not good. And it seems like most people looked at this roster last spring and thought this was about a .500 team. Here we are.

Which brings up the larger question: why NOT fire him after this season? if Bloom wants to turn the page and try to get fans excited about what comes next, replacing Marmol seems like (*Putting On My Mo Voice*) the proverbial low-hanging fruit.

Man Dewitt and mo and company have really lowered the standards for what fans want from a manger. The standards are now finish above .500 and win a series against two playoff teams lol another couple of seasons they may lower it to just finish within 10 games of .500 and it’s a good season and a good managerial job

Needs to be told don't let the door hit ya on the way out at season's end. Nothing less will satisfy the fan base, other than a few boneheads.

There are extenuating circumstances such as fans not coming to the ballpark in large numbers. Whether you blame him or not they need to show the fan base huge wholesale changes to this organization if they want to wash the bad taste out of their mouths.

307 - 298 (To this point of season)

Walker has not progressed under his managership, even though one of his strengths is developing young players.

Gorman has not progressed "" "" """" """""""""""""

Catchers have not progressed "" """" """" """"

Nootbar has not progressed """" """"""""""" """"""""""""

Lost 2022 NLWC to Phillies on his total incompetence

Lack of in game strategy is well known by fans and opposing teams.

Relationship with veteran players is childish at best.

Cannot hire coaching staff with required ability.

Net of 4 games over .500 (to this point) over 3.5 yrs.

etc etc etc etc

Just maybe the impact of John Jay has not been given it's proper due. Retaining Marmot will be the first major foundation block lost in an attempt to get fans to return.

Marmol has the unique ability to construct a lineup that always has 2 of 3 LH batters due up that are susceptible to any LH RP in late innings.

Today’s line up is just another example of why he needs to GO! Sitting Walker right now, is way beyond STUPID!

It is unreal, how many here think this is good baseball. They interviewed Sagesse today and he talked about how exciting it was playing in front of a great crowd yesterday. Even the players are clueless. Organization is completely lost.

You have absolutely hit the nail on the head. This is not the standard I knew as a Cards fan but years of mediocrity have apparently fooled and brainwashed much of the fanbase. I'm sure BDW is smiling ear to ear when he sees threads where the team is being revered for going 4-2 against in the last week against potential playoff teams in the NL, optimism that this team can sniff a 3rd WC spot baseed on their current record when they're looking up at 3 teams in what is known as traditionally the worst division in baseall, wishing to sign their only decent prospect in years to a long-term contract before the kid has ever stepped onto an MLB field, saying the manager is doing an adequate job given the roster, etc.

It might depend on DeWitt. Oli is signed for next year and DeWitt is so cheap that he probably won't pay for Oli and a new manager for 2026. I doubt Oli makes much as a manager, I've never seen his salary compared to other managers. This is somewhat tongue in cheek, but I wouldn't put it past him. I think we won't sign anyone of significance in the offseason and will pare the payroll down as much as possible, probably in the $120 million range.
