Honest question- I don't know much about them- do you think they are true starting pitching prospects, or JAG's?
Hansen to me, and this was my opinion before the season, will be a John King type reliever. Good 1 time around the order...but he has improved this season. We'll see.

Mautz gives up too many long balls, that will increase in AAA. However, it's not wrecking his night this year like it did in Peoria. I had him stalling out in AAA if he made it there earlier in the season, but I think he might be developing a starter like fortitude. Loogy is still my assessment....for now
I've seen comments from Mautz complimenting the new player development techniques.
that's good to hear

According to TCN:
If Hansen hasn’t reached the majors by late 2026, something will have gone wrong, or at least didn’t go particularly right.

There is little reason to believe he cannot continue to progress at the rate of a level a year. As noted above, Hansen has a full complement of offerings. Whether he can refine his secondaries enough for him to accelerate his progress and become a big-league regular must still be proven, however.

An eventual move to relief could accelerate Hansen’s progress a bit, but no matter the role he plays, 2026 seems his most optimistic arrival time with St. Louis.
Bottom line is that his FB is not his friend. Not enough movement or velocity. He reminds me of Brad Thompson.

If we get a backend starter and good BP arm out of them, I would be thrilled. And, at this point, that seems possible.

with Hansen and Mautz they'll never get ahead of Doyle, Mathews, Davis and then Henderson in the Starting LHP pecking order.

Probably right, but if they could become valuable to any other team that could be a big deal.
