Glad to see him getting the start at 3B. Wouldn't mind if they tried him at CF as well. Maybe that is something to work on over the offseason. No matter what it's clear that they're going to do whatever they can to get him as much playing time as possible.
Cards have only 2 players that have ever hit over 25 HR's on the roster in MLB.
I doubt that 1 of them ever does again and the other is in the hopeful category.
IF JJ can hit 25 I don't much care where he plays outfield or infield.
The future is taking shape.
Gorman 3b.
Winn SS.
Wetherholt 2B.
Donovan LF.
Herrera fighting Walker for RF.
Burleson / Contreras 1b and DH.
CF TBD, with Scott getting a competitor for the job.
Easy.
Obvious.
Correct.

Donovan does not have a corner OF bat. Need a power-hitting RH OF badly.

Agreement that some power is a priority.
That just shuffling that positions that player play doesn't achieve
that goal. They, IMO, will need more than the 1 new name of JJ.
Again besides NA, only Gorman has exceeded 25 HRs in MLB. Should
we just do the same things and expect change.

We do not disagree.
I should have clarified that the above is what I expect STL to do based on what is on hand.
Herrera is a good BA/OBP bat; Walker is a mystery.
Neither is a middle order RH power bat - and one is unquestionably needed.
Not a coincidence who STL acquired at the deadline.
But Baez and Jordan are more wishful thinking than an actual solution.
You will note I did not list the catcher position.
I would like to see STL acquire Murphy from ATL.
That would certainly help.

…and unfortunate. Not seeing much of a future there. Rotation outlook even worse. Don’t expect a winner for several years.

Melville, I’m typically in agreement with with you but at this point you might be last one on the island for Walker and Gorman.
