I think it's a combination of poor leadership and lazy, careless play. There were players in the dugout today laughing it up. Yet a series of (bleep) poor at bats and defensive futility.

Clean house, Chaim. From the staff down through the roster. Today may have been the most embarrassing display of Cardinals baseball I've seen in 40 plus years.

If these young players give up when given a great opportunity and runway to prove themselves then team leadership needs to be questioned. If Oli feels like his termination is inevitable then he could be wearing it. This could permeate throughout the clubhouse.

If they plan on moving on from Oli, they should do it now as not to have negativity around the clubhouse. Put Stubby in as an intern and play to have fun until the end.
Agree they should do it now. But make sure we install an interim who has zero chance of backing himself into a permanent position by other candidates dropping out or something. Name someone like Willie (or Red if he were still alive) who is a guaranteed interim so we can perform a full search in the offseason.

Burleson, Gorman, Walker, Herrera are all subpar defenders who have offensive upside that the team wants to see. That creates an issue. When will we develop offensively and defensively balanced prospects?

Flawed ballplayers are not pillars for a rebuild. They can be complimentary pieces, but not pillars.
Agreed. 3 of those guys have moved positions too. Not a great recipe for success. Cards are full of complimentary pieces. No stars.

Part of the problem is with the exception of Walker above, the other guys have been moved around to multiple positions and do not play any one specific position well.
Gorman.2nd & 3rd Burleson.. DH, 1st &I LF Herera C now LF Guess JJ may come in as 3rd baseman since we need guy there but many scouts envsion him as a 2nd baseman long term as best postion.

I said the same thing as well. If he's not the longterm plan (and for the love of all things holy he better not be) why keep him around when he's clearly not having a positive impact on players' development?

This is the 3rd year in a row now and each subsequent year's collapse is worse than the previous one.

I really don't understand the loyalty to this guy. He has proven absolutely nothing in his MLB "career" and has been a large part of running one of the most prestigious MLB franchises into the ground.

I don't hate him either. Just don't think he's helping.

Yeah, I just don't understand how some posters think it's personal. If he's not having a positive effect on the progression of the young players the he's not the guy for the job.

Let Stubby finish the season and start searching for the right guy for 2026.

The Cards cannot draft higher than tenth. Since the Rockies, Nats, and Angels are in the same boat but worse the Cards sit at 13. Tanking doesn't pay like it used to.
Thank you.
I don't know why this keeps being promoted.
