One of the things I really like about Blaze Jordan
(Other than his name), One of the things I really like about Blaze Jordan? HE'S IN AAA
Other things I like: His power. His age (22 1/2), his numbers in the minors, the fact that this was probably a Bloom deal. Reminds me of Epstein grabbing Rizzo.
But I love that he's in AAA and in play for making the MLB roster Opening Day, '26.
More of this, please. I want to trade everybody, even Donovan. But I don't want to trade BD for some player we won't see until 2029.

We need a mix. The two trades combined give us that. What we really need is some pitching that's coser.ecleme22 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 05:12 am (Other than his name), One of the things I really like about Blaze Jordan? HE'S IN AAA

It doesnt appear that Doyle is too far off, but who else is there? Hence, Roby hurt. How close is Matthews, really?

Sounds like a AAAA guy.

Luken Baker, I’d like you to meet your replacement, Blaze Jordan.
Re: One of the things I really like about Blaze Jordan
Doesn't look very athletic so I doubt he'd be very good at third or really in the field at all.

Appears to be a very good return for Matz. I think an argument could be made that the Cards got more value out of this deal than the Helsley trade.
A rich man’s Luken Baker? I dig that description.

Burleson looks like Mike Trout compared to Blaze. But Blaze has a really quick bat with some pop, so DH and 1b is where hed have to play. Maybe stick him in LF sparingly. Could be useful off the bench.ecleme22 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 06:00 amAnd there was a time not too long ago where most CTers believed Burleson shouldn't play any more OF. But here we are. And he's servicable.

Most of us make judgements that are based on too small sample sizes.ecleme22 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 06:00 amAnd there was a time not too long ago where most CTers believed Burleson shouldn't play any more OF. But here we are. And he's servicable.

His power is no doubt his best attribute, but I think the Rizzo comparison is a stretch. Rizzo was a four time gold glover at 1B. This guy does not have that tool in his bag.ecleme22 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 05:12 am (Other than his name), One of the things I really like about Blaze Jordan? HE'S IN AAA

Sure. I think you just made my point.2ninr wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 06:04 amMost of us make judgements that are based on too small sample sizes.ecleme22 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2025 06:00 amAnd there was a time not too long ago where most CTers believed Burleson shouldn't play any more OF. The Rizzo comparison was more about a GM knowing a player's talent who used to play under him, then grabbing him.

He crushes LHP. He was destroying AA when called up with a OPS over 1. He is adjusting to the AAA level but is still putting up an OPS over .800. He's also younger than Wetherholt so it's not like he's a older prospect. 1.104 OPS with RISP on the year! He's a natural hitter who is trying real hard to not be the swing and miss liability that he was branded with as an amateur. Improvements to pitch selection will unlock more power if he can figure it out.
