20 Days-July 31st 6:00 p.m. ET-Predict who will be the dummy to take Arenado off our backs!!
Dodgers
Yankees
Red Sox
Astros
Tigers
Someone else??
Nobody?
I think it's the Dodgers.
They have money to waste.
Need a 3rd baseman
I originally thought Yankees due
to Goldy.
But I think Dodger now.

Nobody unless we eat the entire contract. He has the same ops as Gorman.

He is obviously a better player than Gorman. He us just not what he was in his prime or 2 years ago. However, for a chip team, his contract starts descending next year and pretty reasonable last year. It is the deferred money that is a lot. His contract is not outrageous like it was last year or even beginning of year.

He may still be the best defensive third baseman in baseball.
I’d keep that at his salary. You move him, you will see a worse defense hence more runs hence more losses.

WAR accounts for defense, offense and base running. Arenado currently is around +1.4 bWAR for this season. Meh overall.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 07:23 am He may still be the best defensive third baseman in baseball.

Not that I think the Cards will do this, but IF the Cards traded away Arenado, moved Donovan to 3B and brought up Wetherholt to play 2B in the 2nd half, I'm not sure the net difference would be negative and result in more losses. Maybe just the opposite for all we know.

Not a bad idea. I don’t think we ever get a return for arenado that will match his notable presence.JDW wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 07:29 amWAR accounts for defense, offense and base running. I don’t think the salary relief or playing time availability is worth the three months of the trade.

He's not even top 5 anymore. Like his hitting, he's gotten worse as the season goes along.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 07:23 am He may still be the best defensive third baseman in baseball.

Like his last GG, KeBryan Hayes is the best 3b...he got robbed when they gave it to Nado last time

He certainly could be if healthy.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 07:23 am He may still be the best defensive third baseman in baseball.

But he's also a stiff old man.
No remedy for that yet.
No Cialis or Viagra to the rescue.

Yea he looks old at the plate. That’s why the need for a bat or two to cover the hole that is now Arenado rather than feature that position as a point of strength.Bully4you wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 08:04 amHe certainly could be if healthy.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑11 Jul 2025 07:23 am He may still be the best defensive third baseman in baseball.

Im not sure which team will take him, but BDW will need to send a duffel bag along with him that contains almost all of the $31M he is owed for 2026 and 2027. I sure hope that Bloom and his new manager get to start 2026 with a new 3B.

I agree.
Whatever it takes at this point.
