Yes, that was it! Not sure which is worse but they've both been bad enough that I've stopped watching until they can actually score again. lolFuturegm2 wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 14:50 pmIt wasn’t quite tied, but it was dang close. THat was brutal. This is nearly as bad especially when you consider getting shut out in the last 2 against the Cubs.
Sept 17th game 1 of a DH: Didn’t score the last 5 innings
September 17th game 2 DH: Went scoreless for first 10 innings, scored a run to win 1-0 in the 11th.
September 18-21: Shutout in 3 games
September 22: Scored a run in the 5th inning of this game.

Re: When was the last time the Cardinals got shut out in a series
I looked up and learned that the last time the Pirates threw 3 consecutive shutouts against the Cardinals was at the end of the 1976 season.
John Candelaria, Jim Rooker, and Jerry Reuss each won complete game shutouts 7-0, 1-0, and 1-0, the last one being a walk off to end the season.
That was a much better Pirates team than this year's team, finishing in second place at 92-70, 9 games behind the Phillies. The Cardinals were 72-90 in 5th place in the NL Eastern Division.

Yes. Used to watch Musial hit em on the pavilion in right field, and sometimes out onto Grand Avenue.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 19:41 pmGood for you. Did you attend games in Sportsman's Park?
But that’s not important. Again, can’t remember the Cards ever being blanked completely in a 3 game series.

Elaine Dickinson: A hospital? What is it?
Rumack: It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now.

I didn't move to St Louis until 1968 so I never saw a game at Sportsman's Park. I can't remember it either even in the era of the higher mound.Cranny wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 20:15 pmYes. I took a quick look at 1968 - the year of the pitcher - and the Cardinals did it to the Cubs in June 18, 19 and 20. 1-0 4-0 1-0. I probably happened to the Cards at some point in time but unlikely since they lowered the mound.
Re: When was the last time the Cardinals got shut out in a series
Yes an appropriate way for the Cardinals to end a horrible 90 loss season - being shut out by a pitcher they should have kept along with Carlton. A Ritenour HS grad who they traded to Houston due to contract dispute.sp25 wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 20:01 pm I looked up and learned that the last time the Pirates threw 3 consecutive shutouts against the Cardinals was at the end of the 1976 season.

I was away in the military when that happened. Gussie had a hard time adjusting to free agency. McCarver said Carlton was driving to St Louis to sign Gussie's cheap contract when he heard on the radio he had been traded. Gibson, Carlton and Reuss - Cardinals would have dominated the 70's.12xu wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 07:23 amYes an appropriate way for the Cardinals to end a horrible 90 loss season - being shut out by a pitcher they should have kept along with Carlton. Speaking of Ritenour I went to Riverview. Same conference as Ritenour at that time. Suburban North. Several NFL players came out of that conference. Reuss was the best baseball player I know of from the Suburban North. 220 MLB wins.
Re: When was the last time the Cardinals got shut out in a series
I think it said on the scroll at mlbnetwork thst it happened fairly recently like 2022 like someone mentioned earlier. But when I looked it up it said October 2015 vs Braves.

Yeah I have noticed we have been very healthy over all the entire year. Thompson has been out the entire year since spring training so he is most of that. And he surely wouldn't have made the club out of spring training. Herrera & Walker twice now. Winn & Gorman just for a short time. All players are making pre-arb money. Healthiest the team has been since I remember.ScotchMIrish wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 17:16 pmSomething interesting. Currently the Cardinals have the lowest injured payroll in MLB at $2.3 million. If Contreras goes on the DL his $18 million would put the Cardinals at 20th in the league at $20.3 and the most injured payroll in the NL Central.ramfandan wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 14:48 pmAnd with 3 starters injured , 2 of the 3 in middle of the order.Talkin' Baseball wrote: ↑02 Jul 2025 13:57 pm Not just three in a row but shut out in 5 of the last 8 games.

By the way - great username. He was the most electrifying player I ever saw. The normal chatter in the ballpark quieted down when he stepped to the plate. People paid attention to see what was going to happen.brock118 wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 10:53 amYeah I have noticed we have been very healthy over all the entire year. Interesting since you are only year older than me. My earliest real memories are 1954 when I was nine years old.

I don't know under those parameters. It does seem like they could have hit a homer or scratched a run across somewhere. Pitt does have some fine looking pitching though.

1.) I'm several years older than you.OldRed wrote: ↑03 Jul 2025 12:10 pmInteresting since you are only year older than me. My earliest real memories are 1954 when I was nine years old.
2.) I remember a pitching staff of Howie Pollett, Max Lanier, Gerry Staley, Harry (the Cat) Breechen, and Al Brazle.
On the field were The Man (my hero), The Redhead, Country Slaughter, Del Rice, Solly Hemus, Peanuts Lowery, etc.
