Re: Sandy to the Cubs
Who would be shocked and rendered unconscious if the dynamic duo of MO/Bloom and Wallet pull off a couple deals to launch team into playoff legitimacy??

Re: Sandy to the Cubs
Based on his age(only 29) and past accomplishments I could certainly see where Alcantara could be enticing.
And considering that the rotation is in a state of flux/retooling as we pass from 2025 to 2026 he certainly bears consideration.
Obviously the outlay cost is the kicker.
The Cards do have some position player depth to deal from.
You have Gray and Libby.
Pallante back end or BP?
McGreevy pretty much a definite.
I could see where Alcantara could work.
If anyone should know him it’s the Cards!

Sandy A
16 GS
6.98 ERA
1.48 WHiP
last 5 GS
4.34 ERA
1.14 WHiP
When this first came up I had little interest but (sans his last start) it looks like he's coming around.
But at what cost?
Would they take J. Walker straight up?

Re: Sandy to the Cubs
Acquiring a guy with an ERA of almost 7 does nothing, if anything it makes the team worse

Clearly the Cards didn't know him well enough. They traded him.Cusecards wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 12:23 pm Based on his age(only 29) and past accomplishments I could certainly see where Alcantara could be enticing.

Re: Sandy to the Cubs
Marlins are looking more for top prospects who AREN’T in the process of washing out. I read somewhere (don’t have a link) that they’d start with Cade Horton and want to add something good on top of that. For the Cards, think Quinn Matthews and maybe a Saggese or Davis or even JJ. That’s not going to happen, methinks. I’m thinking, too, that Sandy isn’t really that much of a risk (meaning, resumes being an ace by next year if not this). That’s what a #1 starter in a good rotation ought to cost.
Re: Sandy to the Cubs
Graceffo, Walker and Saggese for Alcantara and prospect/s to balance it out as needed.
Marlins give Graceffo runway as a SP. If it works out, we trade for Graceffo when he gets too expensive for the Marlins in a few years, lol.
