Definitely. would have liked Sean Kuraly more.
Re: Nick Bjugstad signed
100% agreed on the assessment. I think that we're down to like the 5th or 6th option at this point.STL fan in MN wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 12:51 pm Ok?
I’m going to assume a Faksa replacement here. I suppose his 19 pts is marginally better than Faksa’s 15 pts but he’s not a good defensively or in the faceoff circle. Would’ve preferred to keep Faksa tbh.
Or just let Sunny be the 4C.
Maybe it’ll make more sense in a day or two when the dust settles, idk.
If we can get 50% FOs out of Jughead, it'll be a win. He's got to be looking to recreate his last Coyote's season where he got 17 mins a night, had ok linemates on the wing, and still potted 19 goals at even strength. Hopefully, coach can get him to use is size/reach more effectively in our defensive scheme. He's more 50/50 there positive/negative for me - has more offensive in his game, good shot. But, we need a player like this to plug into the PK and save those minutes for our top line guys. Ugg, too bad Texier didn't work out, I think we're going to need Alexandrov or Dean to make this team now. UFA isn't going to save us.

Sounds like he's getting $2 per over 3 years from Dallas. Stings a bit.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 12:51 pmI'm guessing 2, odds are it was minimum 2.5-3sdaltons wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 12:49 pmIf we can go $1.75 for Bjug, we can go $2 for Faksa. $3 is too much, though, I agree.TheJackBurton wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 12:46 pmHe is likely looking for 2-3 million on a multi-year deal.
That's out of our range.

Played most of his career with them. They just couldn’t afford him last year. Not surprised he took less to go back.sdaltons wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 13:45 pmSounds like he's getting $2 per over 3 years from Dallas. Well sounds like he wanted to be back in Dallas. I'm sure if we overpaid or give him 3/4 years he would have stayed, but I don't think we get him 3/6sdaltons wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 13:45 pmSounds like he's getting $2 per over 3 years from Dallas. Young RD are coveted as gold in this league. He was a 1st round pick that is coming into his own.Zizzle1297 wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 13:30 pm yuck hate this signing.
Hate the Bolduc trade.
i dont mind mailloux but bolduc was to steep.
Does this signal a leddy trade?
Cam/ CP55
Broberg/ Faulk
Tucker/ Mailloux?
Kessel
Defenseman take multiple years before things click for them.
The blues are very heavy at wing at both the NHL and the AHL levels. Bolduc was an RFA next season. How are you going to sign Broberg, Holloway, and then Snuggs the following season. The Blues dealt from a strength to fill a much greater need.
I liked Bolduc….butmArmy isn’t playing for just this season….he plays the long game…always has.

Re: Nick Bjugstad signed
Two yrs ago in a top 9 role Bjugstad had 45 pts over 17 min a night. All the Blues need him to do is be the calming presence down the middle an upgrade over what Sunny supplied last year.

And Kevin Hayes had 54 point the season before we got him.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 16:15 pm Two yrs ago in a top 9 role Bjugstad had 45 pts over 17 min a night. All the Blues need him to do is be the calming presence down the middle an upgrade over what Sunny supplied last year.

That didn't work out either.
You can not count of Bjugstad to be any kind of scorer. He had practically an identical stat line to Sunny last year.
Adding him to the 4th line mix is one thing. Expecting him to fill a top 9 spot is just lunacy.

I’d guess the 6th Top 9 wing spot is an open competition in camp among guys like Dvorsky, Stenberg, and Alexandrov.Harry S Deals wrote: ↑01 Jul 2025 16:15 pm Two yrs ago in a top 9 role Bjugstad had 45 pts over 17 min a night.
