You're probably right with that 70pt season on his resume and consistency in scoring. Seems like it isn't Army's M.O. to sign expensive contracts, but then again $9-10M will be more like $7-8M of current times so I could see him going for an RFA and locking him up if he's the real deal. I'm also just thinking about him becoming our highest paid player.rbirules wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 17:01 pmI think it would be without the cap increases. With the cap increases over the length of that conract I think you're looking at $9M if not $9.5-10M.zamadoo wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 16:45 pmI'm wondering if something in the 8/$8M range isn't close for him.bluetunehead wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 16:38 pmI caught a handful of Islanders game on tv this year and he looked respectable. He wasn't Slavin out there pulling off defensive miracles, but he wasn't Shattenkirk either. I think his defensive analytics took a step forward this year as well. That might also be part of why he went from 70 points to 39.Younghopp1991 wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 16:01 pm Can someone that has watched dobson play more than just against the blues give me a breakdown of his defensive play? Only reason i ask is because i believed him to be a big mobile 2way d. Checked a couple blues rumors YouTube vids and there are islander fans saying “not worth 9 or 10mil” “defensive liability” are these people right, wrong or just fans that will never be happy?
I'm not sold he's a 10M defenseman, but we do not currently have a RHD anywhere near his mix of young age and ability.

Dobsons value is not just in the numbers/skill/ability. Its also in the position he plays.....supply and demand.
What is there? Maybe 15 of him in the world? Less?

Thanks for the info guys. Im ok either way we go. If kyrou goes then we lose our top goal scorer, but dobson would be whats best for the long term.

A trade based around Dobson for Kyrou has me fantasizing sweet thoughts of the Blues raising Cups #2, 3…and more.
It’s my dream, stay out of it!

I trust in Army, but Idk any other 25 year old RHD of this caliber that are available. Perhaps someone next off-season, but with the cap going up teams will be in less of a bind. If we don't make a trade like this, we should probably take a RHD or two in this draft.dhsux wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 18:35 pmWell I support a trade like this and I really like Skilles input on hockey but DA might find something else we can all live with and thrive for less.
Possibly anyway.

But unfortunately the 2nd RHD in this draft would be what…a 5th or 6th rounder? Not much chance of hittin on that one. Im of the opinion that we’re almost unable to count on any drafted RHD in our next Cup window due to the age of said drafted players, and now we’re pretty much to the point of needin to trade for one, since #1’s rarely ever make it to UFA status, save for Eckblad, who has injury concerns and isnt a true 1 IMO.zamadoo wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 19:02 pmI trust in Army, but Idk any other 25 year old RHD of this caliber that are available. Could any of the drafted D from the past 2 drafts be legitimate help? Definitely, hopefully, just dont see a #1 in any of em, hope to be wrong tho.
Re: Noah Dobson, RD, 1 year til UFA
Yeah, well we have Jiricek who could very well pan out in 2 years, and if we take one of the few projected in our range they might be here in 3-4 years as 3rd pairing options.SameOldBlues wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 19:11 pmBut unfortunately the 2nd RHD in this draft would be what…a 5th or 6th rounder? There was discussion about Nemec out of NJ being available. He might be worth the gamble, and I'd try to nab Mercer in the deal.SameOldBlues wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 19:14 pm Could any of the drafted D from the past 2 drafts be legitimate help? Edit: Oh if you mean OUR picks, Jiricek is RHD with potential, but not someone we can count on. Otherwise we have some LHD that will likely make the NHL, with Lindstein leading the pack. Ralph is one to watch with top-4 potential. Burns could be a solid top-6 defender, likely bottom pairing.

There are so many reasons for Kyrou/Dobson to happen over the next few days ...

While I wouldn't be shocked I don't think it will be Kyrou, I'm thinking our first and prospects and they will have to take on salary unless we see another deal.seattleblue wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 20:10 pm There are so many reasons for Kyrou/Dobson to happen over the next few days ...

What's your thoughts on Dobson as an overall D? Is he a legit number one? Is he a legit PP quarterback?seattleblue wrote: ↑25 Jun 2025 20:10 pm There are so many reasons for Kyrou/Dobson to happen over the next few days ...
Just reading his stats and scouting report I'd be happy if he's a 40-50 point D that can be the number one PP quarterback and not need to be protected in the top 4. I'd probably give Kyrou plus if he's the future number one D for the Blues.
Then he would replace Fowler running the PP in the future.

Quite a few reasons to feel good if this deal doesn't happen.TBone wrote: ↑26 Jun 2025 08:14 am A column on Kyrou to the Ilses.

If any of this rumors likely hood is true, I'll trust DA on what is a good deal versus bad.
