Internal, FA, or trade?
Herrera may be internal. Walker may be internal. But they need a big bat. FA is easiest as it’s only money. A trade consists of NTCs and multiple players. A bit messier.

Is the offense set for awhile? The position players are under control for -

Donovan - through 2027
Winn - through 2029
Arenado - through 2027
Herrera - through 2029
Contreras - through 2027
Nootbaar - through 2027
Scott - through 2030
Walker - through 2029
Gorman - through 2028
Burleson - through 2028
Wetherholt - through at least 2032
Bernal - through at least 2032
Crooks - through at least 2031
Saggese - through at least 2030

Maybe add an outfielder?

Isn't future pitching the true concern?
Let's not get carried away. Some will be traded and where is the power? Someone will have to be added.

#7 in runs scored, without the continued development of Walker and the future additions of Wetherholt, Saggese, and Crooks/Bernal.
That’s better please stop mentioning Gorman like he’s going to just come out and surge for long periods of time. The org knows that they have in him and it’s not a lot. Bench bat / part time platoon with some pop. Nothing more.
Well, that’s one opinion.
Actually two opinions. Gorman is not a good defender. The floodgates opened last night when he failed to make a play on the hot grounder that Donnie and most decent second basemen make. He hasn't looked great at third either. Sure, he has pop, but is a very inconsistent hitter. So, yes, bench bat with pop. Part time defensive player who is a downgrade when he plays. Could he improve? Probably not defensively, but possibly at the plate. To be a very good player you need to play above average D and be an above average hitter. Of course a team is not going to have a lineup of very good players. There will always be a few "compromise" players sprinkled in the mix unless the budget is very large or the minor league system is very well stocked. The problem is right now the cards have some serious holes and a lot of just OK players. We have some very good players too, like Winn, Donnie, WC, Ivan (but he is a DH really), Nado (fading at the plate), maybe Walker, maybe JJ, maybe VSII, maybe Bernal and or Crooks, maybe one or two young OFers in a couple of seasons... lots of maybes... Nothing is set.

MO will be gone and Bloom et al. are already changing the minor league development system. All is certainly not lost, but we are in a reset. Hopefully Marmol is gone after this season, but who knows.... The current team has holes that we all see. Bloom et al. see them too. What they do with whatever budget they are given will be interesting. We know that ownership is not going to spend a lot of money, so the development system is going to be the source of players, with a few trades. Ownership is not going to have more than one or two larger contracts at a time. A few of the good young players like Winn will have to be locked up. We shall see, but nothing is set.

NO

But I'm sure BDWJr would be giddy to run out those LOW WAGE players.

-The OF needs at least one, if not two hitters better than what you've listed.

-NADO is going to be shopped again this coming offseason and there's not a quality power hitter (Gorman isn't the answer unless he proves it the reminder of this season which is shaky at best) in the organization to replace him. This is a power position, not the place for a Donovan or Saggese type hitter in line to play 3rd base.

-Catcher has some interesting kids on the way. Hopefully one will be both a solid hitter as well as a quality backstop. Pages/Pozo are backups, not first line catchers.

Many holes to fill.

BDWJr will have to give C. Bloom the same $175-180M payroll he gave Mo to become a serious playoff contender.

JMO
same or different result?
will be interesting with Mr. Incompetent gone
Probably depends on 1) how his year ends up and 2) how much is BDWJr willing to eat.

I like Walker and Herrera as a couple right-handed bats. But for right-handed power there may still be a Pete Alonso sized hole.
