Looks like a selling deadline…
About to lose our 8th game out of the last 11. Pitching has faltered in all aspects, offense is feast or famine, emphasis on famine when it counts.
Who goes first and what does the return look like? Not a lot of pieces that need to move would fetch much at all, is everyone available?

Well Mo is still in charge. He is not a baseball man. The incompetence is astounding. Team as I have said for years will be horrible for a very long time, unless the owners are willing to buy major league talent. Most of this group are minor league talent.Baseball Dude wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 21:09 pm About to lose our 8th game out of the last 11. Re: Looks like a selling deadline…
I think they should do what should have happened last year at this time. We need to clear playing time for the future, not who we are paying, we need a new voice in the dugout, and we need a better pipeline of players ready to perform. I’m not saying we need to have a never ending line of all stars, just the next guy up to hold the line.
Why would we ever play someone like Ryan Villade when he has no place on the team today or the future?

Deadline is almost 7 weeks away.Baseball Dude wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 21:26 pmI think they should do what should have happened last year at this time. Too early to speculate on trades. I like them going with the youth with the position guys.
I like Contreras moving forward as a leader.
Arenado could certainly be dealt.
The pitching staff will be going through changes especially with the rotation heading into 2026.
Hopefully we start to see more of the younger arms as the season progresses.
Re: Looks like a selling deadline…
they need to try and trade what they can before the draft...desperately try and get a Comp Pick from a team to get an extra pick in this draft.Cusecards wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 21:31 pmDeadline is almost 7 weeks away.Baseball Dude wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 21:26 pmI think they should do what should have happened last year at this time. Teams with Competitive Balance picks are Boston, Yankees, Dodgers, Mariners, Marlins, Mets, Twins, Tigers....picks 33-43

Contreras as the leader during the transition the next couple of years is something I can get behind. I just wish it had started last year. A month ago I had hope things were headed in the right direction. A 8 game winning streak inspires a lot of false hope o guess.Cusecards wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 21:31 pmDeadline is almost 7 weeks away.Baseball Dude wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 21:26 pmI think they should do what should have happened last year at this time. Helsley is the key trade chip not regarding the Cardinals but other teams seeking a closer. Yes, he isn't the career year he had last year but his
value at the trade deadline could be very good if there is a bidding war especially if the Phillies & Mets would both want him.
Both teams could use a good closer and play in the same division. Getting Helsley and preventing the other team from NOT getting him would be a big deal for the team acquiring him.
Cards should be 'open minded' listen to offers and play the scenario out to the end .

After Helsley I'm starting to believe Matz might get more back in a trade than Fedde or Mikolas.
He's a lefty, versatile, can start or relieve and is having a good season.

Fine. Sell 'em all.

The timing of Granillo's promotion is no accident.....ramfandan wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 21:39 pm Helsley is the key trade chip not regarding the Cardinals but other teams seeking a closer. Yes, he isn't the career year he had last year but his

Fedde, Mikolas, Matz, Arenado, Sagesse, Prieto and Crooks are all available for pitching and outfield prospects. RH gets a QO.Baseball Dude wrote: ↑12 Jun 2025 21:09 pm About to lose our 8th game out of the last 11.
