What does this mean for the youth movement if we can't develop 1 (let alone 5) consistent 33 game starters from our system? Is it the draft picks or the program? They just don't seem durable enough.
Future of pitching - Matthews, Hence, Thompson, Robberse, now Libby hurt

Pallante will never be a top guy, and that's fine. He's a #3/4. Still a lot of value in having a cheap one of those instead of paying a Miles Mikolas 18 mil a year.imadangman wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 21:10 pm I think Pallante still has a lot to work on. I don't see him as a top of rotation guy yet. The ones with the best shot of being our best arm I think are Liberatore or Mathews. Hence has too many injuries. You couldn't go wrong drafting an SP arm if you could get a college arm close to big leagues, I'm not well versed on the choices of players we might get to pick at #5.

He's been hurt. A lot.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 17:49 pmHe was hurt a lot last year (or was it the year before or both?). But seems good at the moment. Was last year a one-off or does he have durability issues too?Shady wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 17:46 pmRoby, if he can maintain his pitching health and durability. He has tremendous pitching talent.Carp4Cy wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 17:45 pm Also Pallante regressing sharply of late. Is he worn down or just not good?

2023 58 innings pitched.
2024 38 innings pitched.
2025 10 starts, 47 innings pitched.
The talent is evident, but he has to stay healthy and he has to regain pitching stamina so that he can go 6-8 innings.

When you have personally watched him pitch, what do you like? When i watched his last couple starts his curveball was pretty on pointShady wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 17:46 pmRoby, if he can maintain his pitching health and durability. I think Pallante is a strong number four on a reset team. I’ll take 6 innings two run ball from an Ace, much less a four.imadangman wrote: ↑09 Jun 2025 21:10 pm I think Pallante still has a lot to work on. I don't see him as a top of rotation guy yet. Last night he was good but he still has a 4.75 ERA. If that were Mikolas people would be calling for his DFA.sikeston bulldog2 wrote: ↑10 Jun 2025 08:02 amI think Pallante is a strong number four on a reset team.
