Burleson has been one of our most consistent hitters lately and deserves to play somewhere. Its Nootbar and Scott who have struggled lately. But complain about Oli it's your favorite thing to do.rockondlouie wrote: ↑08 Jun 2025 11:10 amWattage wrote: ↑08 Jun 2025 11:08 amEspecially with barrero in cf, having burly in rf is scary OF defense.rockondlouie wrote: ↑08 Jun 2025 10:57 am Thx duce
I like Oil giving VSII a breather today, kids in a horrible slump (Last 42 PA: .056 .171 .056 .226).
I'd have liked to have seen Norman rewarded w/a start at 2B (Donny in LF and Bison on the bench).
Hope we can give Kershaw yet another bad Cardinal memory before he hangs em' up.

We should've learned by now wattage, Burly is an Oli favorite.
No way Gorman, after yesterdays big game, should've been benched for Bumbles to play today.![]()

Another day another bunch of Ollie bashing! With all the complaints I almost forgot we won the last two games against one of the best teams in the game. I guess we would have won them better with Ollie not being there!
So which way is it? Does Oli make the dumb lineup choices that have us several games over .500 like some of you say, or does his coaches and front office dictate them to him like some of you say?
And yes, I think Ollie has done a fine job juggling an imperfect roster thks year. As do most national writers who actually know about baseball. The roster construction is not his doing.

Burleson is hitting .125 /.176 against LH pitching this year.
Gorman is .143 / .278.
And, as you correctly point out, Donovan is a far better defender in the outfield than Burleson is.
Also worth noting that Gorman not only won the game for STL yesterday - but is 7 for 15 (plus a walk) in his last 4 starts with a double, triple, and HR.

Someone posted Oli likes to sit a young player and let a guy like Gorman keep the "good feeling/taste" after a good game like he had yesterday.
I think that's idiotic, keep the "hot" bat in there and see if they can build on it.
There's nothing like facing live pitching to keep you sharp.

Gorman has been proving of late that if he is giving consistent opportunity, he will produce.
But he is another key point.
If Burleson was on the bench, he would be available to PH against a RH at a key point in the game - and is his skill set is better suited for that situation than Gorman's is.
Bottom line.
The Marmot continues to make very strange lineup decisions.

McG strikes out Freeman on 3 straight pitches, but the count is 2-1. Good grief.
