Burly
Don’t understand the Burly hate. He’s hitting .289 with a 757 OPS, with more than his share of at-em balls. Plays decent 1B and more than adequate OF. His bat plays, I’ve always believed in him as a hitter and think he and Donnie could win batting titles one day. What I don’t like are the dumb, unfunny, not really clever but petty, condescending and tiresome nicknames.

I understand why you didn’t write this OP from 8/1/24 to 5/10/25OregonRedbird wrote: ↑08 Jun 2025 11:36 am Don’t understand the Burly hate. More than adequate in the OF?
And he shouldn’t be hitting vs any LHP. He’s got a career .500something OPS vs LHP and .301 this year.

Not unless he hits .400 vs RHP since he's a career .201 hitter vs LHPOregonRedbird wrote: ↑08 Jun 2025 11:36 am Don’t understand the Burly hate. Most us played H.S./College sports and this is what we do.

“More than his share of at-em balls”? Burleson: .289 BA; .265 xBA. He’s had some of the best batted-ball “luck” on the team.OregonRedbird wrote: ↑08 Jun 2025 11:36 am Don’t understand the Burly hate. “Plays a more than adequate OF”? 1,093.3 innings, -10 DRS, -9.3 UZR, -17 OAA, -13 FRV.

Re: Burly
Maybe on a team with a properly designed roster but on this team he has been one of our best hitters in the last few weeks and has earned the playing time he gets. I dont like him in RF but with Walker put and Scott hitting nothing we donr have many good choices out there offensively. Too bad the front office doesn't value an effective RH platoon outfielder as an important piece of a roster.
But Burleson does not deserve the negative press he gets on here.

Still think it’s because of a certain unpopular poster slobbering over him to an extreme.
Not Burly’s fault!

1. He's one of the slower players in MLB.
2. He's primarily a singles hitter.
3. Career 0.7 fWAR, .717 OPS, 98 OPS+ in 1,076 AB's.
4. He plays a decent first base and is a horrific outfielder.
5. Despite his two singles today, he doesn't hit lefties. Coming into today he had a .301 OPS against them.
Look, it's not hate. He's a decent sub. But that's it.

I was 6'6" in high school so I played football and sucked, played basketball and sucked even more, and played baseball and was the very definition of mediocre.rockondlouie wrote: ↑08 Jun 2025 11:50 amNot unless he hits .400 vs RHP since he's a career .201 hitter vs LHPOregonRedbird wrote: ↑08 Jun 2025 11:36 am Don’t understand the Burly hate. However at almost 70, I've morphed into a decent golfer, so I've got that going for me!

Rocko started 4 years at 2nd base for Mizzou though there is no record of a 2nd baseman doing that.rockondlouie wrote: ↑08 Jun 2025 11:50 amNot unless he hits .400 vs RHP since he's a career .201 hitter vs LHPOregonRedbird wrote: ↑08 Jun 2025 11:36 am Don’t understand the Burly hate. You think HardMaples obsession with Burly is part of the negative?
