He had 21 g and 32 A on a bad team. Yeah he's not what he used to be. We wouldn't be asking him to be a 1C or even a 2C. What are you expecting for someone you want to plug in at 3C? We had Sunny's 6/14 in that slot for focks sake. Oh yeah speed is everything. Man that 99 guy had blazing speed. Again, it is only a 2 year commitment. What is your plan, genius?
Sunny is awful, but that’s pretty pricey for a 3C
We were paying Bozak 5M a year to be the 3C when we won the Cup… with a cap of 79.5M. Yes that was a lot, but it also helped put us over the top to have a borderline 2C playing on the third line.
ROR at 4.5M with today’s 95.5M cap would not be outlandish at all.
We didn’t sign Bozak to be the 3C though remember? We signed him earlier in the day when we thought there was no ROR deal. It just happened to work out that way. We have to give raises to the guys that are coming due, Neighbours, Hofer, Broberg, Holloway. The cap is going up but we still can’t be spending all willy-nilly
Yeah I remember but the point was we still made it work, and that 4.5M now with a significantly higher cap is not crazy money for a good 3C. Anybody we go after as a stopgap middle 6 center until Dvorsky is ready is going to be in that range and possibly even higher.
I actually like the prospect of ending up in the 26-27 season with this alignment:
x-Thomas-x
x-Dvorsky-x
x-ROR-x
x-Schenn-x
Maybe Schenn and ROR are on the same line, or maybe Schenn maintains above ROR. If Dean pans out at 3C then we've really got something.

I expect a younger center with a more rounded game most important a good skater or great skater who checks, PK, FO %, some skill, hits. May be in the 30 pt range I'm not that concerned about production as the 3rd center as much as tool box

If we got him I wouldn’t absolutely hate it, I’m just worried the wheels could completely fall off at any moment

ROR is exactly what this team needs. For 4.5 mil per for 2 years you get a 200' (see what I did there?) 3C that wins faceoffs and can help on both special teams. Low cap hit and short term. Oh I get it, let's go 9 x 7 for Bennet, right?
No. Let's find someone who can keep up with the young players on wing. I saw ROR a few times last season and I wasn't impressed, this is not 2018-19. He's still Schenn on the scoreboard but I question his heart and speed (I don't question Schenn's heart). Come here to play 3rd line center? Really? Sit in the box and watch Dvorsky play? Really?
I just didn't see him doing much that makes the Blues better, harder to play against. Schenn IMHO is the better 2C. Moving him down two lines might get him away from matchups he's losing but it puts him in Adam Lowry territory. The 3rd line center needs to be a warrior. Maybe last season was an aberration, but what I saw was a player in serious decline.

It’s a valid concern. He wouldn’t be my first choice but it’s a scenario I could see happening. I’d be ok with it. Armstrong has a history of bringing back former players (Perron, Sundqvist, Blais).

Plus every million spent on a 3C is one not spent on the top 6 or D. Army will have to weigh pros and cons
