"stars in the making"? Rodriquez and Roby

With all the talented catchers in the Cardinals organization. As indicated, a position change for Rodriquez could be forthcoming. He appears to have star potential along with Wetherholt as position players. And it's pretty exciting to have young pitchers like McGreevy, Mathews and Roby coming along.

I think they should move him now. From the scouting reports it looks like he isn’t going to be able to stick to it so start teaching him to play another position now so he can get good at it.

That makes sense. Not sure how athletic he is. Maybe 1B or LF.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 10:53 am I think they should move him now. From the scouting reports it looks like he isn’t going to be able to stick to it so start teaching him to play another position now so he can get good at it.

He’s 5’10” (and that might be generous) so I’m doubtful he’ll be a 1B. It’d be awesome if they could get him to field at 2B. Maybe he could be the real unicorn. But LF might be more likely.Shady wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 11:09 amThat makes sense. Not sure how athletic he is. Maybe 1B or LF.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 10:53 am I think they should move him now. Yep at 5'10, LF ssems more practical than 1B. Right now, there are some good possible 2Bs in the organization, Ex. Wetherholt and Saggese. Rodriquez seems to be the potential additional MOB needed for the future (maybe Herrera and Rodriquez in the future) and Roby the swing and miss type starting pitcher desired.Futuregm2 wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 11:10 amHe’s 5’10” (and that might be generous) so I’m doubtful he’ll be a 1B. Seven months is pretty far back to remember an article on here. Also, discussing possible future star Cardinals players should never be outdated. The Cardinals need more star power.craviduce wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 15:40 pmthat has been linked on here before... 7 months ago. Outdated article.Shady wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 15:38 pm Looking ahead. Good point. But, as a fan, why not continue to be hopeful that some of these youngsters will develop into stars for the Cardinals in the future?Futuregm2 wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 15:49 pmOkShady wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 15:46 pmDiscussing future star Cardinals players should never be outdated. You're right! I hear this switch-hitting catcher, Simmons I think, might be someone to keep an eye on!Shady wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 15:46 pmSeven months is pretty for back to remember an article on here. Re: "stars in the making"? Rodriquez and Roby
I think that it is not out of the question that he can stick at catcher, which is why maybe he hasn't been moved yet. Plus, it might be hard to figure out where he might stick given his size. I've read a lot saying that he's probably not going to be a catcher at the MLB level, but I've also read that he's 18 and not exactly bad behind the plate, so there's time for him to develop into the position.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 10:53 am I think they should move him now. I wouldn't bet on him staying at catcher, though.

Oh boy that sounds promising! Think he’ll be a Hall of Famer someday?!Monsieur De Treville wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 15:57 pmYou're right! It's okay to be hopeful, but it would behove you to recognize a platitude and/or puff piece when you see one.Shady wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 15:54 pmGood point.
